I hate you now. I'm crying a little, and I hate you, because you made a brilliant OC in a few thousand words and then you killed her horribly and I hate you.
Also because of the little bit about some superheroes come back, and some don't...
| WalkInEternity chapter 1 . 9/24/2009
You know those stories where there is this perfect girl who gets superpowers and everyone falls in love with her and readers call her a "Mary Sue" and hate her guts?
This story is not one of those.
Very realistic. Everyone was perfectly in character. Great writing and imagery. Loved how you written every character so that they are distinct and human (for some, not literally human).

Very interesting piece. Thanks for sharing it with us.

My gosh, where do I begin? This fic was reccomended to me by a close friend/writing colleague/all around awesome girl by the name of CalliopeMused, and WOW... she said it was different, but I was not expecting this. You've managed to take humor, drama, and outright heartbreaking tragedy, and make it all work, AND keep the DC Universe characters believeably in character. (yes, I know some will say that Supes would never watch porn, even at Lois' behest, but I'll just remind those people that I remember an issue of a Superman comic where he MADE a porn video with Big Barda, so there. Granted, there was mind control involved, but hey...) Anyway, you do all those things, AND create a wonderful, compelling original character, AND dare I say throw in a bit of commentary on matters sexual... I can't even pick out specific parts to gush about, because from start to finish it's all amazing. I really don't have another word. Seriously, I've kind of grown disenchanted with fanfic over the last couple years (too much crap out there, and some might say my own stories might be in that catagory too,) but stuff like this... inspires, humbles, and restores my faith in fanfic, and sends me to gushy fanboy-land.
What can I say? I've been reading fanfic for just shy of ten years now, I reckon, and comic books for over twice that span. And I can honestly say without hyperbole that this is one of the best superhero stories I've ever read, hands down. Thank you.
(P.S.- if you'd worked the Question in here somehow, I might be looking to start a new religion on your honor right now.)
| CalliopeMused chapter 1 . 8/24/2009
I think I stopped reading, completely stopped, when I read "Though closer to mortem..."
I thought that this story was a bit silly, to start, but you changed my mind somewhere in the first few hundred words. It wasn't a gimmick, anymore. This was the first believable story about an outsider joining the Justice League, about someone from way outside of Gotham earning respect (and even a little affection) from Bats. Kelly/Kinesis is never a Mary Sue, and every scene with her reads as completely believable and down-to-earth. The on-the-civilian-job scenes are practical and surprisingly tasteful, the remark to WW about "enough light" on her ass made me laugh out loud, and her interaction with the League (especially watching as various Leaguers (Supes!) knew who she was in that earliest scene), and I adored her.
That made the ending stick. She died because she was betrayed by Nicky, and because she did the right thing. She was a hero, and a porn star, and one of those rare characters that should have every last reader and character inevitably on her side. The truce with Wonder Woman (and that conversation!) was wonderful, the bond with Batman made me smile, and Superman's confession made me laugh out loud.

Excellent Story, except for the tragic death part, if you could have done away with that, I would have marked this as a personal favorite, but sadly, I don't do tragic stuff

Not to put a spoiler in this review, but you are an Evil Author. Very Evil. One might even go so far as to compare you to Joss Whedon when it comes to Plot Evilness. :) Lets just say I'm very glad I wasn't drinking anything in front of my keyboard when you revealed your first major plot twist!
I think my reaction scared the dog! (laughing) This story is definitely getting added to my favorites list-and I'm only part way through chapter 1!
| Wicked Wonder chapter 1 . 10/5/2008
Oh man, this story! I loved all the twists and turns in that. Kelly quickly became someone I cared about, and I loved how she stuck to her guns about her career. Also, the final twist? Whoa. Thank you for such a powerful read.

I gotta say it was a good story. the only real problem I had was Diana's age. I'm not sure how old she actually is but shouldn't there be a rew more than two digits in the number? also I have a hard time believing that she'd be shy about her sexualtiy... or inexperienced. good story.
| Dr Facer chapter 1 . 7/22/2008
I am more of a Marvel guy, and I rarely read anything in this category, but then one day a friend told me about this story and how good it was. I decided to give it a try expecting it to be at least good. I found it was very well done and a brilliant example on how to use an OC to the fullest. Congratulations for this fantastic story, it goes stright to my favorites.

So, on a whim, I decided to do a read through of a story from a category I had never really gotten into. It was on a friend's favorites list so I assumed the it had to be at least an above average read.
I was wrong.
This was an -excellent- story.
Seriously, I'm flat out impressed at the level of writing here. Instant favorite.
