|Reviews for The Art of Losing|
| Stoney Angel chapter 3 . 2/25
Wow! That was brutal but amazing. I was literally cringing during the torture part, and normally I'm ok with that as I'm a sucker for all things hurt Sam. But I swear I could "feel" it every time he was stretched more and more. Yikes! Totally convincing. xo

I've read this once before on LJ and now that I've come to find this here again, can I just say, this seriously fucked me up, but in a good way!
What I mean is, I was just trying to explain to someone earlier today why I love reading torture fics so much, and that the main reason to me is the psychological damage and emotional fallout from situations involving extreme physical damage.
Now this story, it made me wince sympathetically many times, sure, but what really got to me, was the eerie and dark atmosphere, the feeling of utter vulnerability, hopelesness, terror and shame, among other things. I won't even mention how good it was all written or how, unexpectedly to myself, am I glad that a more convenient and easy 'happy ending' wasn't chosen. This way the comfort part stayed as real and engagong as the hurt one.
Oh, and one more thing, if the lovely author could maybe give some more detail about the humming? It was one of those tiny sharp things that really stuck, you know, and is it possible to get to now more about the nature of it, maybe the pattern, or even get a concrete example from some song as a reference?

You are ridiculously/frightfully good at writing these torture scenes, lol

I don't know what to say... but I thought I'd review anyway _'
| Sparkiebunny chapter 3 . 11/21/2010
Wow, awesome story. An oldie if the published date is anything to go by, but a beautiful piece nonetheless! Loved the emotion and overall theme. Excellence. Pure excellence! :)
"Torture is seeing the future, and not knowing how to stop it."
"Yes, now there is justice. But justice isn't peace. Vengeance isn't healing."
"Because maybe winning isn't about what he gains, but about what he doesn't lose."
...Like I said, AWESOME work! Your skills astound me! :)
| Halcyon Impulsion chapter 2 . 9/29/2010
Oy. That's heartbreak in a handbasket. Having just watched s6e1 there is a lot of stuff in here that is killer-the description of how Dean feels without Sam, of him feeling like a failure, of feeling lost and scared and alone...heady, accurate stuff for the more recent loss as well. Good work.
| Halcyon Impulsion chapter 3 . 9/14/2010
This is an interesting piece, and my favorite line is this:
"Torture is anything that breaks the will."
Lots of profoundities in here, especially considering whats happened to the boys since you wrote this. Good work, and I am so glad Dean caught the thing and disposed of it :)
| Kitrukia chapter 3 . 7/8/2010
Wow! That story was so...powerful. The insight that you drew from it is just amazing. I admit, at the beginning I was a little iffy and a little confused about the way it was going, but the way you wrapped it up... just beautiful! I am practically speechless. I just love the insight you have in this story. Amazing! Thank you.
| Menthol Pixie chapter 3 . 11/4/2009

| Animegoil chapter 3 . 10/25/2009

This story is intense and completely AMAZING.
| SalemsChild chapter 3 . 1/20/2009
You wrote a truly dark, sick, disgusting, sadistic and brooding story...and I loved EVERY word of it!
Lordy, girl, your imagery is just outstanding. Could almost feel my joints stretching and popping right along with Sam's. Always a phenomenal storyteller, you've raised the bar into the stratosphere with this one!
