Loved this story, as I love all you stories. I am rather indifferant to the new characters. I think we need to give it some more time and see what happens. I am loving the emotional scenes between Sam and Dean. Very curious to see what will happen next.

Nicely done. Good job showing both boys’ pain, and I was so glad to see Dean offer Sam some comfort. I really missed that in ELAC.

Favorite lines:

A twisted and mangled steel tribute to how Dean felt on the inside.

Great analogy, and I love the “twisted and mangled steel” description.

Maybe that was why it was so important to fix her-to get back on the road. It gave him the illusion other things could be repaired just as easily, and a modicum of control over something.

I like this, too. I think it’s an accurate depiction of how Dean views the car, at this point.

“Give him a book, Bobby,” the older Winchester finally offered. “It kind of has the same effect as a chew toy.”

He didn't mean to stiffen, didn't mean to flinch away, but the sensation was so foreign, so unexpected. So missed. It had been weeks since his brother had touched him. Since anyone but doctors had breached his personal space. The Winchesters might not have been good at using words to relate how they felt, but they had always been demonstrative to some degree-even if it was thumps on the head or manly punches or elbows. Sam briefly wondered how long a person could go without physical contact and retain the very thing that made them human.

I really love this section, from the revelation that Dean hasn’t touched Sam for weeks (which I can believe), to the way Sam’s missed those little touches, to the bit about how they often communicate better via touch than word. Lovely writing here.

"All of this, Dean, is because of me. Mom...Jess...now Dad. You don't have a family because of me."

"Sammy-you idiot-you are my family."

Aww. Love Dean’s simple statement here, and I have to say “Poor Sam!” He really does take the blame way too much of the time. He’s got such a huge guilt complex.

"But I don't know what to do until then."

Dean nearly laughed. There it was again, Sammy dumping his broken toy at his feet, holding his boo-boo out for a magical kiss.

Great analogy here. I always love references like this to their childhoods.

Wow, great job! I was on the prowl for stories about the newepisodes and when I found you wrote one, man was i excited LOL! I loved it, I wish they hada moment like this in the last episode instead of leaving it unresolved. Maybe theyll go into it next episode (hopefully!). And, i totally agree with you on the point that we all love Dean BECAUSE he always has a cheesy pick up line!

I loved this a moving and beautifully painful.

That last scene of ELAC with Sammy's tears and his confessions of guilt and grief just about broke me into pieces. The poor boy so desperately needed to connect with his brother. *Hugs Sammy*

As always a wonderful story. You just have these characters so down its amazing. And you go girl on the Mary Sue soap box - Im right with ya!

Good job! I had been thinking of doing a one-shot to this scene myself as it is so ripe angst. I love that you have conveyed Dean's feelings of being overwhelmed. He just has too much on his plate, doesn't he. That last shot of him with the quivering chin says so much.

I wished they had shown Sam seeing Dean thrashing the Impala, though. Okay, you've got me thinking about it, I must go and rewatch it again, lol.

Thank you! I don't think Sam could have gotten far enough away not to hear the window shatter. Don't get me wrong- I adore the final scene, but this is a lovely little wrap up. I love Bobby's part and what's better than a puking Sam?
