Oh my oh my, what joy! (Do I sound like Gurgi, or what?) I am so thrilled to hear your voice again, PV! And this is great-I agree with earlier reviewers that you've got the tone just right. Great dream/nightmare sequence-needless to say, I'm happy to catch even a fleeting glimpse of Adaon, even if it's, uh, not exactly his best moment-or Taran's! I think it's very effective the way that Adaon morphs into Ellidyr-you manage to convey the double trauma of those losses. (Somehow that sudden grasp of the wrist part reminds me of the end of the movie /Carrie/-real horror-movie stuff.) And Eilonwy's weeping was very poignant. The bit about the curtain of her hair is lovely-and the way she shelters Taran so they can grieve together-what an interesting view of their relationship! I also really liked her healing role at the end-and the final bit where she fades into light is wonderful.
What a fascinating transformation, too, Coll turning into Craddoc. I shall have to think about that one-Coll being a father figure, and Craddoc the unwanted father (fake father, but still). Again, an intriguing parallel, and contrast.
How great to have you back, and please may we have some more? (My Oliver Twist imitation!) So greedy of me-here you are giving us a chapter, and I want you to provide more more more! Sure sign of a Prydain-iac . . .

I really like this. though I agree with CW. HOW COULD YOU END IT THERE? :-P it really carries the same flavore as the books! Amazing!

Beautiful! I especially loved the dream sequence. I'm really glad you wrote a fic from Taran Wanderer as it is my favorite in the series! Keep writing

GAH! How CAN you end it like that! *writhes*
Once again, beautiful. I love the dream sequence - completely believable and in-character dialogue between the two of them. I don't know how you keep coming up with these...well, yes I do. You obviously live vicariously in Prydain, like I do. Don't stop! I am so delighted every time I get an alert that you've got a new fic up. They are an inspiration.

If I may say so, I thought this was your best yet!
I'm so glad you chose to write something based on Taran Wanderer. It's easy to overlook that book when one is young, and it seems less adventure-packed, more somber, than the others. But it's really a marvelous novel, the kind one appreciates more in adulthood. I was just starting to listen to it on tape the other day, and it strikes me too how one gets more of a sense of the fabric of everyday life in Prydain from it as well. Since I've been writing fics myself, I appreciate that quite a bit.
Loved your focus on dreams. You put your finger on an important paradox. Dreams can be delusions (like Taran's fantasy of being nobly born), and hence something one should not overindulge; and yet dreams can also be a form of hope, and thus one cannot give them up wholly or one falls into despair.
Some very nice sentences, for example: "His quest, now achieved, had taken from him exactly what he had sought to gain." Well put, and succinct.
"Her laugh always made him think of silver"-lovely.
Dare I look forward to more?
