sugarquill4ron chapter 4 . 12/9/2006 WOW. this was a really long read and boy, what a trip that was! Thank you for this chapter, it was excellent. Filled with action and brotherly awness, lol. And i LOVE the flashbacks even if they made me sad :( and LOL, i like the quote you used for this chapter. Looking forward to your next update, have a great weekend :) |
Harrigan chapter 4 . 12/9/2006 Each chapter just keeps getting better and better (which I wouldn't have thought was possible)!. I love how equal the brothers are in this - each a very competent hunter, more worried about his brother than himself. Loved Dean thinking he heard his dad. And the dialogue is so right! For example - “Maybe you left during the last commercial break, man, but we’re up shit creek here...” The references back to Something Wicked are very effective - Dean's been his brother's protector since the fire, but things changed in Something Wicked, I think. Coming so close to losing Sam then just kicked that sense of responsibility into a level that's just off the charts now, and explains his behavior and feelings in this. And you use the 'whumping' the way it should be - it's not gratutious but has an impact on the plot and the character development/revelation/exploration. The fact that Sam can't walk and is getting worse (with infection) is necessary to drive Dean to the actions he takes. And then hurting Dean to the degree that he can't get Sam out of there is necessary for them to have these discussions that I loved, and to move the plot to what happens next. So - I'm loving the h/c. And - what does happen next? |
friendly chapter 4 . 12/9/2006 this story is freaking awesome.. I love it.. you need to update soon please... |
EagleGirl6 chapter 4 . 12/9/2006 What a cool book you referenced! That was a very thoughtful gift:) I love how you've injected John's voice into Dean's thinking, without even using a flashback: You only have one shot, Dean, make it count… don’t fire from emotion… Dean started to lower the gun. Be smart, Son. Be smarter than the bad guy… OMG, how much can Dean take? Great action! Before he got a chance to think much past fire bad, he was flying through the air. Go, Sammy, Go! yeah for Sam! I love this description, so concise but vivid! (This is what makes you so good, IMHO): He looked terrible in his fury, Wounded and sick maybe, but sure as hell not helpless. I was wondering if Dean was going to have to sit on Sam's lap... Hehe:) This whole paragraph was awesome, of Dean's renewed strength to save his brother and himself: He felt a strange sort of strength blossoming from somewhere in his gut... to wield the knife with the expert hands of a man who knew it better than a lover... And then you describe the aftermath of that strength so wonderfully: The rush of strength that had allowed him to stab the wendigo drained swiftly from him and in its place flowed complete weariness and perfect pain. I love it when you talk about his lashes and his freckles! ! Funny, he’d forgotten his brother had freckles. Such a sad description of Dean and John after Sam left. Sounded very realistic. No, Sam, don't give up... heart breakin' here. Sam, think of something, it's your turn: They were shadowed with pain and dull with resolution. He knew they weren’t going to make it. He knew. So like Dean, to judge his success by saving Sam, not himself or both of them: Dean shook his head. “Not if you don’t get out, Sam. Not if you…” He dropped his head, looking toward the ground, seeing nothing. Great line! I think you're channeling Kripke: “Maybe you left during the last commercial break, man, but we’re up shit creek here,” Dean lifted his head a fraction, looking at Sam’s face This is so simple, so perfect: “Usual, but it was all… empty. Dad was wrong. I was wrong. Without you… it took a long time to get into a different groove, Sammy.” And, by god, so is this (I can almost hear the implied “duh” here!): “Well, yeah, but it’s you, Sammy. Everything you do matters to me.” Wow, the whole conversation about Jess and BOC and then the Shtriga was great. The words they use, the feelings you conveyed, all really true to the characters. Great job. That was such a perfect flashback, and written beautifully. Perfect line #3, poor wee-Dean, to know so much so young: “Because some things are true whether you believe them or not.” Such wonderful brother moments, first you talk about Dean sitting on Sam's lap in the travois (teehee), and now Dean's resting his head on Sam's chest (Awh). So much goodness:) You and Dean's lashes, you're killin me! As he leaned in he could see a bare slit of green showing through thick lashes. I think I'm going to like this character you brought in, a hunter like the boys (kind of). I love the way this story is going; sometimes you just have to have faith that all will be OK. As always, the research you put into your stories makes it all the more special, and yet you still manage to update so frequently. You're the best:) |
KitsuneHi13 chapter 3 . 12/8/2006 All right, I read this chapter at work today. Printed it out and read it during my break. Do I ever do anything, study or work? NO, I read your damn fics. :P Anywho, I love the way you write, its awesome! Makes me wish I would stop being lazy and write something. Or atleast finish what I've started. _ Darn that Kripke tho... that episode's ending ANGERED me! I'll just have to be content with a Supernatural marathon these next few weeks. Lord knows I haven't watched them enough times. ; KEEP WRITING! NEVER STOP! MY LIFE DEPENDS ON YOUR WRITING! |
KitsuneHi13 chapter 2 . 12/8/2006 Otay, I FINALLY read chapters 1 and 2. / And I can't wait for chapter 3! WHICH is already up I see. Sweet! Didja see last night's episode of Supernatural? After the end, I hit my brother in the face with a pillow while my Dad laughed at my anger. ; Sam Whump AND Dean Whump(FAV). You rock my world! _ |
Nilah chapter 3 . 12/8/2006 Hope this comes out well this time. Story teller extraordinaire. I love the way you handle the characters. I can hear them in my mind, and feel what they are going though. Dean is handled exceptionally well. Your characterisation is on! Like Zeppelin,, it rules. This is such a gem. If I had to tell you the parts I love, i'd be rewriting your story. But I just have to mention these Reference the pigtails "you mean that doesn't work?" lol That's Dean. "...resist the urge to tape his mouth shut" Sam couldn't see that he was his father- just 20 years younger. Dean is right on there. There was more love in that look than Sam knew what to do with. Are you trying to bring me to tears? I can hardly wait for your next installment. Hopefully soon(she begs ) |
Kirsten Z chapter 3 . 12/8/2006 Good work! Nice choices with the songs too. |
Jennygeee chapter 3 . 12/7/2006 Another great chapter and I’m sorry I’m late reviewing but I didn’t have time to read it when I received the alert as I was on my way to the Dentist. So I printed it off and read it in the Dentist waiting room! It certainly made the wait much more bearable! The only problem being when I review while reading I usually quote parts but I am now reviewing this a while after reading. All I can say is that I was totally drawn into this story, bless Dean all he thinks about is Sam and his safety not caring about his own at all! You left us with a cliffy you little devil you! Now I really can’t wait for the next chapter. |
sams1ra chapter 3 . 12/7/2006 Reviewing as I read here… I really like the switch between angst and banter. Though taping Sam's mouth shut could have been funny… I really like the flashbacks. They just add a little something extra, you know? I am getting a little annoyed with Sam and how stubborn he is about being angry with his dad. I can understand, but man, give him a chance, would ya? Huh. Sam had a point there with LaGrange. Poor clueless Dean… "That’s how Dean saw this, Sam knew. He needed saving. But he couldn’t help but wonder who was going to save Dean." loved that line! Whoa, intense! I must say I agree with Dean – chapter 4? Bring it on. I'm ready! |
Rachelly chapter 3 . 12/6/2006 Hey kiddo! I absolutely love this story! I check for it and can't wait to read it. Your chapters are so nice and long and I just love taking my time and enjoying every minute. I love the brothers in this...their dedication, concern for each other, their conversations...they can argue and be at each others side in a flash, awesome! Big brother Dean is amazing...your descriptions are so detailed and vivid that I can see the whole thing playing out in my head! The whole wendigo thing is really scarey and the cliffy...yikes! write on, write on...I can't wait for more! AwesomE, |
IMTheresa chapter 3 . 12/5/2006 “You with me, Sammy?” “It’s Sam.” “Not to me it isn’t.” I love that. I think Sam has accepted that the nickname is a term of endearment; especially after what he said to Gordon in "Bloodlust". But I still think this exchange is sweet. Another good chapter. |
brighette chapter 3 . 12/5/2006 Bring on the whumpage! Err, more whumpage! Loving this story, truly loving it. We have hurt and protective brothers - does it get any better than that? Great job with the brotherly moments. Of course, when I saw Cripple Creek, I immediately had Up on Cripple Creek by The Band stuck in my head though...lol! |
EFW chapter 3 . 12/5/2006 Evil is the only word that comes to mind right now! How can you leave us there? This story just keeps getting beter. I loved the argument about John. Each one is so sure that what he's saying is true, neither one really hears the other - as when Dean kept telling Sam to shut up and Sam kept talking. That felt so real. I esoecially liked how you increased Dean's injuries very subtly, without hitting us over the head with it. So much better (and drawn out) and makes the anticipation and drama of what's to come even greater. Top all that with Dean's ingenuity (I like it when Dean is portrayed as more than just a bull in a china shop) and I can't wait much longer for chapter 4! Thanks for writing. |
alwaysateen chapter 3 . 12/5/2006 Wow! What a wonderful new chapter! Thanks for again mentioning MacGyver! Thanks also for a longer, at the edge of our seat, chapter! Wow! I can't wait for your next one! |
