Pie and the Winchesters chapter 1 . 7/14/2021 Your writing is incredible. This first chapter reads like a brilliant novel. I'm in love already and I've only gotten through chapter one |
Guest chapter 20 . 7/7/2021 Shoulda stayed gone |
Lily Belladonna Took chapter 20 . 9/22/2020 "The phone call came at sixty miles an hour somewhere near Flagstaff on the fourth of October, 2005." This. *This* is how you write the first line of a book. Catches you right out of the gate, and the whipping of the wind outside the car carries the ring of the phone to you and sweeps you into the story. And this, "He's not gone any more," that is how you end a book, with the wholly-earned and satisfying wrap-up of the theme that has been echoing throughout every chapter. Well done. "The Crow on the Cradle" is a compelling and highly original story. What a brilliant spin on the time-travel/fix the future/etc premise! Telling it through Dean and Jess's eyes (and what a vibrant, believable character your Jess is!) was a masterstroke because it took your interesting premise and forced the reader to become engaged in trying to puzzle it out. I grinned from ear to ear in triumphant exultation when Sam mentioned the iron under the floor as the backup to the chalk on the ceiling. Oh, that was amazing. And I loved Sam dragging them all out to see the semi at the end and beaming! You have a way of making your characters earn their happy endings that makes them thoroughly satisfying. As I read, I had two minor quibbles: the first is that while I appreciated your semi-stream-of-consciousness writing style (it suited the story and gave it a wonderful flow and pacing), I thought that occasionally the sentences tripped off of "stylistic" and landed in "run-on." The second is that I think Jess's perspective, especially, might have benefited from some more vocabulary variation (I say Jess's only because she likely has an advanced vocabulary and so could use it, even in her head.) So, for example, the words "tired" and "f-d up," appear often. Sometimes they're very effective; sometimes I thought different word choice would have brightened the mental image and made the other uses of those words stand out more. Thank you for writing "The Crow on the Cradle" and for keeping it posted here. I've read it twice now, and will definitely read it again in the future! |

G-C-W chapter 20 . 5/15/2018 That was frigging amazing! How did yoy even think of something like that? God! There were so many times when I wanted to stop and review, to express my anger when Sam never came back, when they were chasing after his shadow! Then with Sam being slightly screw loose, even if he was faking some of it, and all but bloody hell when we saw Gabe I knew it was that bastard even before he said Deano and it was just SO good. This whole thing has been EPIC! I just really wish that now there was a way for Sam not to see the other timeline but I doubt that that can ever be fixed. Sam now is what he is but everyone is alive and hopefully now with the demon dead the visions will stop like before so he will have less to deal with... But wow...That was awesome. I love it. Thank you. |
warmsundae chapter 1 . 4/21/2018 ive read this story three times already, and im still struck by how beautiful some of your writing is. the end of these past two (three?) chapters, when Jess realizes how much she loves Sam, is just perfect. |
