Just when Dean needs reaffirmation of his status of awesome big brother Ellen helps feed him back that need. Sam is staying for Dean, fighting to pull through. Faith & hope is what is needed now, belief that Sam, strong-willed and stubborn is just that and will not leave his brother. Brain-dead my a**s! Go Sam open those way too pretty eyes of yours again and let my heart beat a little steadier again...!

Ooh medical jargon and Intubated Sam (Faye must have been in seventh heaven by this point Rachel!) Literally my heart stopped in places as Sam fought to stay alive. The list of damages done to his poor body is frightening. Just how one human can survive such an onslaught is amazing - but then again the Winchesters are not just the average boys are they? Or Dean having to watch his brother go through all this only to have the diagnosis of 'brain dead' was just too chilling for words.

Still this one line sticks firmly in my thoughts from Ellen, summing up the madness that has put Sam in such a coniditon.

That’s just it. They weren’t. Livin by fear is livin without thinking. They didn’t take the time to know Sam. They just feared him for what he is.”

What and angsty, angst fest...I loved it! The last line...awesome. Your Dean here was believable. It's always strange to see this side of sarcastic, strong, bottle it all up Dean. But when it comes to his brother, I have no doubts that this would be the Dean seen. I loved this chapter, even with all the sadness of it. You've got me hanging on every word waiting for those lovely eyes to open. I am feeling Dean here. I think Ellen and Bobby are two of my favorite people now. I can't wait for the next chapter.

What a deliciously long chapter, full of angst, drama and further blood letting - littered with perfect LimpSam and AngstyDean moments throughout. Dean begging for his brother's life was just so real, pitting the hunters against each other, making them bicker over who killed Sam as some had enough enough humanity left in them to doubt Sam's ability to be evil. Still in the end all the hunters got what they deserved, Daniel & Jake especially. Not though before you give each brother another bullet wound each and you leave me desperately clinging to hope that Sam can survive such terrible damage. With Dean battling at his side you can only pray that will be enough.

P.s. Hot footing across to the next chapter before I start to hyperventilate myself!

Well Rachel I am behind again with my reading & reviews but I'll try and play catch up here if I may? You write the violence with such a natural flare it is both appalling and exciting in the same breath. Jake-the-psychopath is not content on just battering our boy but really wants to see him hurt, bleed and shooting him so callously in the leg like that just reinforces the madness the man lives with. A bonafide fanatic. Even with Dean's confession about Sam's visions he still has no intention on keeping Sam alive. Suddenly I am more than a little afraid that not even big brother can save the day here! Rushing over to the next chapter with fingers X'd that somehow Sam survives!

I was wrong Rachelly, you are not cruel, you are evil! Poor Dean, please give him a break, a sign from Sammy, anything..I could have cried with him. Great chapter and nice to see Bobby appearing for a short time. One little point, no way would the ninety year old Nurse get anywhere near Sammy to provide care for him. Take it from one of the sisterhood, a good looking young patient like Sammy with his wonderful Brother sitting next to him 24/7, there would be cat fights at the nurses station over who got to be his primary carer for the shift, and it would not be her..Love this story but be careful where you are flicking that bic.

Well, I guess he'll make it after all! Poor, hopeless Dean. He is just so tortured. And where is Sammy? Is he just in some other plain of existence, or is he fighting the big bad from his dream state?

I really like the way you've portrayed Ellen in this fic. She is the mother they've needed all this time, and I love her for it.

Can't wait to see how you end this! Will Sam have brain damage? Will Dean be able to wait around long enough to watch him wake up?

As you said, no cliff hanger. But as I was reading, I just knew you were going to let Sammy wake up and then WHAM-he is still unconscious. How can you do this to us. Have a heart. We need our Sammy back. Dean needs his baby brother. I really liked that you brought Bobby in for moral support. Dean really needed him. As always-please update ASAP.

Whoa I just found this and can't find words to tell you how good it is. I am speechless (which is a first for me!). I don't know when I have ever read a better fic. Thank you, thank you goddess of Supernatural fanfiction.

Aww...that's so sad. Hold on a second. *grabs tissue and blows nose fiercely* Alright, I'm better now. But yay! Sam's condition is improving! And he won't die! :) *Does a little jig* Lol, I couldn't help that. But it's so sad for Dean. He's so messed up over this...his aching heart can't take it much longer. But in the long run, he'll know it was all worth it, I'm pretty sure of at least that much!(Kinda' sure..ha.)
