|Reviews for Who's Afraid of the Big, Bad Wolf?|
| NightShadow131 chapter 7 . 9/11/2010
I really liked this one, of course, lol. I thought it was a lot different from your usual stories, though; in a good way. There wasn't very much action but the banter between Sam and Dean more than made up for it. I thought it fitting how Dean thinks this hunt's all backwards compared to usual, and how he drives in the end as though to fix it as quickly as possible.
I always enjoy it when you have the story be about brothers/sisters because of the way you have their relationship tie in with Sam and Dean's, especially in this one. The girls' father definitely got what he deserved as well! It's sad for Lila since she's the one who did it and I'm sure it'll bother her for a while, or what have you, but good for them! n.n;; I just really don't understand how people can do those kind of things, especially to little kids, and their own at that.
At least it was easy to get rid of the wolf once they figured out what was causing it! lol. And, of course, after they get beat up a bit first. xDD Excellent job!

Yay, they made it back to the Delaney's without Dean passing out and Sam did Dean a great favour by making an excuse to leave to save his big brother shooting someone at the boring conversation! Just loved Sammy falling asleep over half a beer and Dean patching up his jacket with the repair kit for the Impala.
A great story, loved it.

Aah, so it was definitely Lila who was summoning the wolf to protect her big sister and the thought form was more potent because she was psychic. Great that all she had to do was tell it to go away for it to be banished and she didn't have to die or anything. Now they just have to get back to the Delaney's before Eleanor has a heart attack or they lose the light!
| ziggy.uk chapter 5 . 2/12/2010
The beginning of this chapter made me think there was something more to Lila, with her just knowing the Delaneys were in and then knowing that the toys had belonged to Lynne. And her making eye contact with Sam then the wolf appearing kinda confirms it. Now I'm not sure who summoned the thought form, it could be either of the girls, but if Lila has abilities it could well be her. There again they could just have known the wolf was there at the same time.
Oh dear, another Winchester shirt has now probably been ruined by the wolf, if the hunt goes on much longer the boys could well be walking around in their boxers (nice thought!) And loved Sam's embarrassment as Eleanor barged into the bathroom with his naked chest exposed!
| ziggy.uk chapter 4 . 2/12/2010
Interesting that the wolf has now gone for Dean seeing as Alicia didn't seem wary of him like she did Sam. Or perhaps the thought form is now getting out of control. Typical Dean not wanting to go to the hospital to be patched up but they need to stay under the radar, and Sam probably gave him as good treatment as the docs could do anyway. The only thing he didn't have was antibiotics!
| ziggy.uk chapter 3 . 2/12/2010
I am definitely thinking that Alicia has somehow summoned the thought form now and that it is after Sam as she was looking daggers at him when he was comforting her mother. Not sure whether she is aware of what she is doing though, and do the boys need to link it to her to get rid of it? And will Sam contact Ricky for more than just research? Dean will probably encourage him to! And on the plus side, Sam now has clean shirts that fit!
| ziggy.uk chapter 2 . 2/12/2010
Hmm the wolf seems to be a spirit of a wolf or something as the poker got rid of it without Dean seeing the creature, could be totally wrong though. Am also wondering that if it is, did Alicia somehow subconsciouly summon, probably wrong there too!
What a pity Lila returned before Dean could get more information out of Alicia as to why her dad was naughty and hope she doesn't say anything to her mother about Sam and Dean being brothers as they gave Janice different surnames, which could be explained away as half-brothers!
Loved the lighter moment at the end of the chapter with Lila serving Dean toilet water 'tea', no wonder Dean spluttered and Sam snorted but so long as the toilet had been flushed it should not harm him any!

Intriguing start. Can't say I'm that upset that Mike Bevons has met his end, he was an unpleasant individual and should have left his kids alone.
Loved your description of hungover Dean, and he must have been feeling rough to actually let Sam drive! And so funny that driving all day wore Sam out!
Grisly murder scene with bloody animal prints. Are they from the large grey wolf you mentioned at the end of this chapter, and is it a werewolf? If it is, hope it has killed Mike and not turned him, he was evil enough to start with.

This made me giggle: Dean took one of the offered seats, and lifted the glass of water to his lips. He paused, looked at Lila, and asked, “You didn’t pour this, did you?” Lila giggled and shook her head. “Good,” Dean replied taking a long drink.
And so did this: “I realize you may not recognize it, but it’s called driving,” Dean responded sardonically slipping behind the steering wheel.
Love that the boys actually have a repair kit for the Impala, just like they have a first aid kit for themselves. LOL And you fixed the jacket-phew! Good woman. :)
This story was very nicely done. The boys were in character throughout, it was an interesting case, some good memories/emotional stuff...all good. Nice spotlight on sib relationships.
The only thing is, I really wondered about whether Alicia's mom would believe her and get her help. But even more, I wondered what ever happened with the Austin situation-did the girl get away from her dad for good? I really thought you'd re-visit the flashbacks a little more and give some resolution to that story (maybe John and Dean could've gone and threatened the girl's dad or something). I really want to know what happened there.
Well done! I liked this story a lot!

Lots to like in this chapter. First, this: "Dean spun around to steady his little brother when his Sammy radar pinged loudly." LOVE the Sammy radar. :)
This made me giggle: “Great, that’s great,” Dean complained, “An entirely unhelpful, yet impatient spirit. You hook up with the nicest dead girls.
And this was so sweet. Loved the rememberences of their childhood, and Dean considering it his birthright to hover. :) "He really was beginning to be annoyed with Sam’s hovering act. He wondered briefly if that was the way he made Sam feel. He decided it did not matter as it was his birthright to hover. It came with runny noses, skinned knees, and forty-seven viewings of “Oliver and Company” when Sam was five."
More childhood references, yay. Love those: “I found you in the heating ducts of a trailer we lived in when you were three. You had to crawl through a vent smaller than the first aid kit to get down there in the first place.” Dean shook his head at the memory and added, “You said you were looking for your green Power Ranger.”
“I remember that ranger,” Sam said tilting his head in remembrance. “But, I don’t remember it being missing.”
“Probably because I found it for you,” Dean replied picking his way through underbrush. “Are you coming, or what?” Dean asked noticing Sam had fallen behind.
“Yeah,” Sam responded gathering fond memories of his brother together, and putting them away for future introspection.
Love Big Brother Dean always coming through for Sam.
This cracked me up: “Dean keeps Sam safe, he told me so, and Sam has to be harder than you are. Look how big he is, and think of all the trouble he can get into.”
Sam cocked his head, and raised his right eyebrow at Dean. He was going to pay for that one.
And then this was so bittersweet. You showed again how awesome Dean is with kids, he really handled a touchy topic very well: “I’m sad my daddy is gone, but I’m also happy he can’t ever get to Lila now.” She looked back up at Dean with tears swimming in her blue eyes. “Does that mean I’m bad?” she asked fearfully.
“No,” Dean replied, “It makes you an awesome big sister.” He wrapped his arm around her small frame, and looked her in the eye before continuing. “But, it is time to send the wolf away.”
Oh, and then we got some unexpected insight into little Sammy: “It’s hard being smaller, and not being able to help, isn’t it?” Sam asked honestly.
At Lila’s nod, sudden clarity came to Dean. During all the years growing up the almost four and a half year age gap between Sam and himself must have felt insurmountable. Certainly, when Sam was in his early teens and Dean as already an established hunter the inequality in their abilities would have been a hard fact to live with.
I really liked that. I did wonder if it might not be Lila conjuring the wolf, especially after we found out she was seeing a ghost, but you did a good job of really putting the suspicion on Alicia. Love the girls' relationship.
And this was so sweet, I had to love it: “They watch out for each other,” Sam replied his eyes softening as he met Dean’s eyes. “Each one of them was willing to sacrifice to keep the other safe, that’s what siblings do.” He willed Dean to understand the truth he wasn’t saying, the real meaning behind the promise he had extracted from his brother; the way he also understood Dean’s unwillingness to keep that promise.
Aw...And Sam was good with the girls too. Loved the crack about hoping Lila wasn't afraid of heights when Sam was getting ready to carry her. Kinda wish Sam's abilities worked more this way in the show, it would be helpful lots of times.

"Who do you think read you those stories when you were little?” Aww...love this reference to their childhood.
And the leather jacket got holes in it? Oh the horror! LOL I can't believe you would defile the jacket that way! ;)
"Arriving on someone’s doorstep, ax in hand, did not instill trust." *snort* Ya think, Dean? LOL
And now the girls are missing? Ack, and I have to go to bed. Hope I can sleep despite the suspense. I'll be back to finish tomorrow...Happy Bday!

Hey, excellent chapter! Love Dean being all protective, drawing the wolf away from Sam. Interesting touch, having neither silver, nor salt rounds, nor iron working to dispell the wolf. Quick thinking on Sam's part to get the ax.
I wouldn't have thought Alicia would send the wolf after Dean, since she seemed to like him (though she did seem a little afraid of Sam)...so can we assume the wolf is no longer under her control?
Poor Dean! He's all torn up! Loved Sam sleeping down by the sofa to be there in case Dean needs him.
