| partlysunny chapter 1 . 12/12/2012
An excellent study on Cid! I loved every moment. Thank you for the story.
| Reinna chapter 1 . 1/19/2009
I love the way you characterize Cid, and elaborate on his past relationship with Venat and Balthier, especially since the game was never particularly clear on either. It's absolutely excellent, and getting fave'd.
| silver-kin chapter 1 . 3/10/2008
I can't think of any better history for those two. It's very well-planned out, and flows smoothly. The way Cid copes with the changes in his life and how Balthier, or Ffamran eventually leaves is done very well. Plus, the descriptions of Cid's workplace and stuff feels very real and true. Thanks for the great read!

| zephyrocity chapter 1 . 8/5/2007
Definitely the most human portrayal of Cid I've seen... I never liked the geezer much (though he was amusing!), but this made me see him in a whole new light.
| qirien chapter 1 . 3/6/2007
Great Cid fic! I always wondered how Cid got so crazy, how he justified the sacrifices to himself . . . well-written and researched.
| illsprawl chapter 1 . 2/28/2007
Yes, yes! This is just brilliant. Humor, subtle angst...it's all here. I wanted so much for the relationship between Cid and Venat and Cid and his son to be further explored. I'm absolutely thrilled. Fantastic work!
| Cailin Skylark chapter 1 . 2/13/2007
simply perfect! this honestly has to be my favorite ffxii story on here. the character development is amazing and fits wonderfully with the game. and the dialogue is so simplistic, with key phrases that i could imagine being used in the game compared to somme other stories on here that use way too much old english. bravo!
| Ikonopeiston chapter 1 . 2/12/2007
" I've been reading books," - What a delicious sentence at just the right place!
"Three of his scientists threaten" - what do they threaten?
This is a strange and melancholy tale. You have elegantly presented the arc of development with a smooth hand. The pervasive sense of inevitability adds greatly to the mood. Beautiful and unsettling.
| hc chapter 1 . 2/11/2007
Absolutely brilliant. Loved it.
| Gwinhwyfar chapter 1 . 2/10/2007
Awesome. :D Keep the fics coming.
| Mimi chapter 1 . 2/9/2007
Excellent in so many ways.
Cid becomes a character one grows to despise yet empathize with.
And how the dynamic between Cid,Venat-and most importantly- his son evolves.
I would love to read this story from Balthier's POV as well.
| DuoAkira chapter 1 . 2/9/2007
Excellent story, beautiful writing. I actually feel sorry for Dr. Cid.
| BaschLuvva chapter 1 . 2/9/2007
Very touching, I really liked how Cid was portrayed in this, especially at the beginning
| Mithrigil chapter 1 . 2/8/2007
You have a fine handle on Cid's character, and the elements that you used to distinguish Ffamran-the harpsichord in particular, and I loved your use of "sabotaging" there-are very striking. The story and the connectors thereof are also quite strong.
However, I think you might have paid more attention to style. Venat is meant to speak in iambic pentameter, according to the game, for one, and this would have solidified her/his presence. You also tend to tell and not show, though that may just be the nature of Cid's character.
I enjoyed this, and the story is a strong presence. Just those stylistic quibbles. ::smiles:: Not Bad At All.
