Ahhh, I can't wait for the testimony! And let me tell you, the conversation between Alex and Dacres was seriously amazing. As always, everything was soo well-written! I'm so glad I found this fic and that you're still interested enough to keep writing!

BRO... HELLO. Hot damn, this fic! I don’t even know where to start.

Well, I remember reading this years ago — maybe 2014-15? I can’t remember if you’d gotten Alex out of the camp or not yet. Regardless, I fav’ed and followed it, and while I’ve noticed periodic emails over the years, I wasn’t super into AR anymore and didn’t remember the fic well enough to dive in to the newest update without rereading. I noticed the email about the most recent update, opened the fic to check it out, and read a bit of chapter 34 just to see if I was interested enough in rereading the entire thing.

Suffice to say I have spent my entire weekend reading this monster of a fic. Did you know you’ve written approximately the word count of the LOTR trilogy? I feel like you must, but still, that is an ACCOMPLISHMENT! Not to mention the DEDICATION! I cannot believe you’ve been writing this since 2007... I was literally 8 years old when you posted the first chapter. I wonder if I had started reading AR at that point? It was somewhere around then.

Anyway... I have not been able to put this down. I have so much classwork to do but I felt like I could /not/ focus on it until I finished this! Not the most responsible thing but man am I glad I got to the most recent update. I’m very excited to read Alex’s testimony, and I’m glad that I came back to the party when you were so close to finishing.

The level of angst in this fic... WHOOMPH. Good shit. There were definitely some parts where I had to put down my phone for a bit and just try and process. Alex has so much goddang trauma, it’s so hard for him to unravel everything. I’m so proud that he’s trusting the Mannings and having little breakthroughs. I also love the complexity of the more political aspects of this fic — I’d imagine it wasn’t easy juggling all of these characters and intelligence/military branches and operations. I found myself wondering how hard it was to keep track of just what each character is actually aware of! You did a really good job of it though, and any military/medical inaccuracies were invisible to me as a layperson. Though as an American, I did have to google some of the British terms, haha! When you said people-carrier, I pictured a human-sized dog crate, not a minivan!

Anyway! I really cannot believe the determination and effort you have put into this fic! It’s inspirational. I’m also astounded that you’re going straight into rewriting it! I’m definitely about to go search it up on Ao3 though and follow it. Thank you so much for writing this and sharing it with us!

nonono you don't ruin anyone's day when you update you make my day omg. I have been following this story for the past 6 years and your updates never fail to get me excited to read this story. Naturally when I saw this story updated I was sooo happy.

I'm glad to see Alex finally being to feel comfortable around his friends and accept that he's going to be part of the Mannings family. Tom is officially my favorite character ever because he's the leader of the #protectAlexRiderclub and I live for their friendship and how much he cares.

despite all of the terrible things that Alex has gone through he's so precious still especially when Alex asked about Blunt having a garden because he missed going outside.

The line about Smithers being 30 years older than Alex and outfitting Alex with gadgets to go to his very possible death really hit me hard. No matter how much a likeable character Smithers was, he still didn't do anything about Alex's situation until now. I guess he could be considered a man trying to atone for his past crimes, and while it doesn't make up for the fact that he was sending a minor on highly dangerous illegal missions, Smithers is trying to make up for it which gives him a pass in my books. Also since this fic was written pre Scorpia Rising, I'm assuming that we're going to leave out the fact that Smithers is actually a 30 year old agent lol?

I'm very excited to see the testimony in the next chapter and everyone's reaction to Alex's crazy life. Also is Chloe going to show up in the next chapter? I honestly love her and she's such an adorable character and it would definitely give a lot of closure to her and Alex.

To be honest, this is the ideal ending that I always imaged for the Alex Rider series (although the canon ending with Scorpia ending was fantastic, and im ignoring the AR revival with Never Say Die/Nightshade) with some adults finally putting an end to Alex's abuse in MI6 so thank you for writing this long but amazing fic and I absolutely love your writing.

Woooh! New chapter! This was so good - to see Alex finally feeling able to ask for what he needs from his guardians, and to expect to be listened to - he’s come such a long way, it seems, from back in the camp in the earlier chapters, wandering around with zero hours of sleep and a bleeding head wound, thinking that was justifiable! And I loved how you wrote Tom here, even though it was sad to see how his trauma has impacted him - when he was afraid to let Alex be out of his sight with a strange adult, and how freaked out he was about losing Alex, for his own sake - it really brought home how very much they are all kids, handling a terrible situation (and doing it like champs, but still). I’ve been following this fic for so long now and it’s so so cool of you to still be writing it. Thanks for sharing your work with us!

I think this was one of the very first fics I read, and still one of my absolute favourites. It's really exciting to have been part of it for so long, and now it's wrapping up. This chapter was as great as the rest, and making me really curious and anticipatory to Alex's testimony.

Oh my. Such a heavy load on poor Alex‘s shoulders, but it’s nice to see him ease up and get some distance to what happened.
I honestly hadn‘t thought about him having to leave Tom behind until now, that is really sad... but I can‘t imagine that they would loose contact, after all they‘ve been through.

I love getting the notification about a new chapter on this fic, it always gets me really excited - but, just the same, I don‘t want it to end, it’s suddenly so close.
