Please write more!
Aragorn will, of course, be very nice to him, as will most others. The ranger needs some sort of adversary, though. Perhaps, he could help in the restoration of Ithilien or with border troubles with Harad? I can't wait for more!

Hi! This is a great start of a story.
I love the young ranger: he's inexperienced and a little frightened of what he might meet, but so eager to find out, and ready to listen to everyone's tales, no matter how strange they seem to him.
The tone of this chapter sounds like the journey is just a build-up to great adventures in Gondor. Have you any further chapters planned?
Thank you for writing,

Nice start! I'll be interested to see how you flesh out your character and plot in the coming chapters.
One teeny nitpick, if you don't mind: "I slid my hand to the hilt of my dagger and waited, trying to breath as if I slept still." I think you want the verb breathe here.
