I love this! First of all, I've always contemplated on Light's and Ryuk's relationship with each other. I like to think that Ryuk looks after Light in his own way, although I can't prove that since I've read the entire manga, but it's wishful thinking. It's a cute notion though. Your character reactions and interesting and the interactions are amusing. The irony of Light not knowing anything while L, Misa, Rem, and Ryuk are plotting and scheming away - it's delicious.

Careful, you switched to present tense in the 6th paragraph: "...without revealing he KNOWS about the Death Note...". Please stay in past tense. I think I caught it again in a later spot. Not a big deal, but just so you're aware.

Another note on the constructive side: Watch your pronouns and such. Sometimes I get a little lost in your sentences because I can't decide exactly what you are referring to. Just make sure that each "it" has an obvious reference. Perhaps you could also try to jump less between character povs. Watch from L's eyes for a bit, then slowly shift to Misa, then shift to Light. If you switch around all over the place, I tend to feel a little lost, and I don't get a deeper feeling of the character as I hope to get. (And I think you are capable of getting deeper too!)

As far as plot and development goes, this story is superb! you've got enough to keep me entertained and feel like I'm learning new information each chapter, but you're not giving anything away. Nice. I'll continue watching and reviewing. I hope that this helps and inspires you. Update again soon!

It's nice to read well-written stuff! You have a good judge of character, and I'd say that your L seems to be spot on. Rem is a little trickier, but I like your characterization of her. Continue writing, and thanks for a story that's caught my interest and made me want to read more!

Also, I think you're doing a great job keeping everyone canon but keeping possibilities open.

Having L not just destroy the notes outright makes this story very interesting. Light and L get to live and be friends but there's still the Death Notes involved. It's a very intriguing story.
