Whoa. This is AMAZING. A really unique idea for how Itachi became the way he is. Poor Obito and poor Rin-I feel so bad for both of them.

That's the main feeling I get out of this. It's not fair how things turned out. It's hugely, monstrously unfair.

Itachi and Obito and poor poor Rin. What I find absolutely great in this fic is how hard it is to blame anyone. Well, I guess blaming the clan for disregarding Obito is always a possibility, but with everything that happened, it would be so unsatisfying, 'cause I doubt Itachi slaughtering the clan would've made Obito feel better, somehow. I love how you managed to tie every character in; that was really well done.

I finished reading this five minutes ago and I'm still...just... wow. Really, wow.

It's really hard to do a proper characterisation of Itachi - he's a complex villain with enigmatic goals. But here, it all seems of plausible. It fit with the "wanting to test his power" and "grow strong enough to hate me" motivations we know of in canon. It's just so very well written. Even if the original goal is a childish wish you can see how it cold from the beginning of the infamous missing nin.

And Obito? Was just so right, jealousy, crushes, determination and unshakeable spirit all. And I really love the glimpses of a broken Kakashi starting to become the character we know so well later on.

Your grammar and writing style are wonderful, despite the frequent shifts in time frame it all seems natural and connected - again something that is quited difficult for this type of piece. I REALLY enjoyed this, and I hope you keep writing more stories of this quality.

*shakes head* So tragic! I always wondered if Obito's death affected Itachi more than anyone knew! Since Itachi was old enough to remember Obito. And Obito is my favorite Uchiha! Cuz he's really sweet and nice! I think Obito and Naruto would get along just fine! I think if Obito had lived prehaps Itachi wouldn't have gone bad in the first place...*muses* A pity someone cannot bring Itachi back, and someehow get him to EXPLAIN WHY he killed the entire Uchiha clan! *whistles* I bet Kakashi and Sasuke would be shocked to know the truth! I doubt Obito would want the entire clan dead and his baby cousin to be a killer...A pity you cannot have Obito be reborn as Naruto, I would pay to see that, and SEE Naruto aka Obito's reaction to the Uchiha massarce...
