RE Torniquets back then wasen't standard issue and was not part
of army medical training except as last who knows
what the sas was taught.
Now on operations one is issused to every soldier and supposedly can be applied one handed .Though have heard accounts its not actually that easy to do when you have been blown up and are looking at the remains ofyour leg .
Supposedly the training for everyone is win the fire fight then deal with casualties, but, unless rounds are coming down on top of you I doubt many soldiers would forgive someone who pulled a mate into cover and stuck a torniquet on .Its quick and will save a life .Personally thought that death was a bit
contrived and your version is more realistic.
