Vanidot chapter 13 . 3/12/2010 Very good story! I would love to read more adventures about Methos the System Lord. Are there any plans at the moment or in the future for more (moremoremoreplease!)? This is definately going on my fav list! |
Bug-eyed Monster chapter 2 . 2/10/2010 I'll agree with Hiko. K'SO! (I watch anime.) |
vballmania23 chapter 13 . 2/1/2010 This is a really amazing story! The ending had me surprised, but I think that's more because I need to be hit by a 2x4 in order to understand anything subtle because once I looked back, I couldn't see how it *wouldn't* make sense. Great beginning, interesting middle, awesome ending. I really loved it :) |
tyarsol chapter 13 . 1/22/2010 Epic win! First things first: thank you for writing this story. I have immensely enjoyed reading your take on two of my favorite TV series. Even though I was rather skeptical about the concept of crossing those shows you managed to take the characters and fill them with life. Their interactions and especially the banter going on between Methos and Jake really made my day. For the plot: you fabricated a situation that was quite believable and build a nice background for the interactions. Maybe I am biased but I could absolutely picture Methos taking over the post as alien overlord. The Old Man using his skill and planning to take power into his own hand is something my inner Methos-fangirl has been squeeing about for years. Sadly it is a concept I have not encountered all that often in fanfiction . So, thanks for the very entertaining evening - Im off to read more of your works. |
Mercedes no Inuarai chapter 13 . 12/30/2009 I thoroughly enjoyed this story and from, what I think, is a rather unbiased standpoint. :D See, while I love Highlander and Stargate very much and know enough about each not to be confused about terminology or scenery, I also do NOT know enough about Methos or Jake (never saw his episode) to have any kind of opinion on them or to argue with anything you presented about them. With that in mind, I really appreciated the detail and care with which you handled the characters and the way you let them move in the story without letting the reader fall into stereotyping. The deeper subject matter (self-discovery/recovery) was wonderfully intriguing to read without bogging down what turned out to be a really neat plot. Methos' take on Teal'c's views were especially interesting, as were the occasional discussions about the ambiguous meanings or the words "religion" and "god". :) Daniel's observations (and his characterization tickled me), while presented through other characters, really let the readers understand what might be going on with the protagonists, so we don't just assume that they're both a bit whacked. XD Thank you very much for sharing this with us, it was a thought-provoking joy to read. :D |
Tracey Claybon chapter 13 . 12/30/2009 I just *loved* this story - captured the best elements of HL and SG1 and meshed them like they had ALWAYS been part of each other's worlds. This is one of the very best stories I've seen done in any fan fic - it had the odd spelling error, but that is the only complaint I had with it. I hope there is a sequel - I have to see what 'senior year' looked like! 20 out of 10 - just outstanding! |
purrfus chapter 12 . 12/22/2009 Had to come back and re-read this. Methos and Mini-Jack have always been favorites, but the way you write them - the actions, their motivations - it so satisfying. |
Anyankaholic chapter 13 . 12/10/2009 This was an amazing story. I loved all the quotes mixed in from the Horsemen. I love the idea of Methos becoming a god and going off into space. Really great story. |
nljfs chapter 13 . 11/7/2009 As always, another great story! You are definitely heading straight to the top of my favorite authors list! nancy in chicago |
graydevilforever chapter 13 . 10/20/2009 I love to death that you turned Methos into a god! He He ! Theres not many stories where I have an ending that fits perfectly. I sorta long for a sequal but I sence that it would suck unless it was a drabble. In other words I love your ending. sQE. Graydevilforever |
mountainelements chapter 3 . 10/18/2009 "His voice held a faint accent that was really the mishmash of accents more common to older immortals than to mortals. It made him seem more dangerous to Methos." I have to wonder what would happen if any Immortals met Daniel while searching for Methos at the SGC. Would any Immortal be unstable/desperate enough to assume that Daniel is Methos, based on his accent, and that he has managed to live so long because he figured out how to hide his quickening? Also, I can't help but imagine Methos having a plan for Immortals being discovered. Someone shows a video of an Immortal reviving but the video isn't clear enough evidence. Then Methos makes a phone call or tells someone else to make the phone call, and suddenly there's groups all over the world who believe in Immortals and try to convince others that they're real. Only Methos has made sure that most of the people are the sort that are easily dismissed and ignored, kind of like the reputations of people who claim that they were kidnapped by aliens. (I don't have any idea whether these people are correct or not, but I've noticed that they tend to be ridiculed and disbelieved by others in movies like Independence Day. No offense.) He also sets up a series of hoaxes about Immortals so that most people dismiss any true stories about them as well. I'm not really sure if he'd actually do this, as he has to know that the truth will come out some day, but maybe he's trying to buy time for something to happen first or hoping to get people used to the idea over time? Sorry. I know this part isn't really related to the story, but I've just wanted to share this idea for a while now so I can get it off my mind. |
Frostfyre7 chapter 12 . 10/10/2009 I really, truly, and deeply enjoyed this story. You took my favorite Highlander character and made him...become. It's a wonderful take on Methos, acknowledging both his vast age and the fact that the amusing, self-centered, beer-loving scholar truly is just an act, and that the real Methos is one scary powerful guy-not evil, merely...Death. I loved it! And Jake's journey as well, while not *quite* so profoundly explored, was nevertheless well thought out and believable. He's genuinely likable, and he really *isn't* Jack, whatever his five decades of shared memory might have confused him (and everyone else) with. The relationship between Jake and Methos was brilliantly done-touching, funny, and moving. Again, it was nice to see the "real" Methos here, capable of genuinely understanding and caring about the boy, and all the while manipulating him and everyone else for their own good and his amusement. Better yet, he accomplished all of this without actually "coming out" about Immortals to the SGC-which would have been an easy cop out. I like your approach so much better, with Methos taking their acceptance of alien 'gods' and getting them to believe, for now at least, in magic. No doubt someone in the SGC will eventually figure it out (though they're not going to get any help from the Watcher, I expect), but in the meantime, Methos has had his joke. Thank you for a fantastic read! |
mountainelements chapter 12 . 10/1/2009 It's occurred to me that Methos' actions would have vast repercussions on the Game if most of the Immortals knew about them. I can't be positive but I suspect that the Immortal phenomenon only happens on Earth, or at least only on a very few planets, considering that Teal'c didn't seem to know of Immortals. So if a Gathering ever occurs, Methos might be out of reach of whatever pull it has. Plus, if the Prize really is to rule the Earth, Methos has already beaten it by gaining control of several worlds without even having to kill all the other Immortals. So does Methos' absence mean that there never would be a Gathering? Immortals would have to consider whether there's a point to taking each other's heads, and whether they should try to kill Methos for "cheating" the Game. Some also might try to copy him or just try to get his power, even if the Gathering is merely a myth. Immortals could try to escape the Game by going to other worlds. It would be really chaotic at the SGC if many Immortals knew about Methos, as several Immortals would try to sneak through the Stargate or kill the new Immortal for more information. Also, I've read some fics about how Watchers are concerned with who might win the prize and rule the world. How would the Watchers react to Methos' actions? Is he now "out of their jurisdiction"? Would they try to determine if he's suitable for ruling these other worlds? I don't think that they could really do much to stop him, but some Watchers are probably going to freak out, regardless of how logical it is. I both love and hate how your fics grab my attention and won't let it go. |
mountainelements chapter 13 . 9/30/2009 I really, really enjoyed reading this story. It's a very good blend of these two worlds, and I have to wonder what happens afterwards. I'm a bit confused about some things though, probably because all my information about Highlander comes from online and not from actually watching it. Methos was a Horseman from about 4 thousand years ago to 3 thousand years ago, correct? So Cassandra is about 3 thousand years old? That's what I had been thinking but I got a bit confused when reading this story so I'm not sure any more. Also, do the Watchers know that Adam Pierson is Methos? I've recently read a couple of stories where the author mentions a Watchers CD that states the Watchers found out from Watching Cassandra. I'm not sure whether this applies to your story, as it hasn't to many of the stories I've read. I also can't help but imagine a series of revelations: SG-There are more Immortals! SG and Immortals-There's a secret society that spies on Immortals and is obsessed with history! Immortals-Methos is real! SG and Watchers-Adam Pierson was Methos and was hired to work on his own Chronicles! Watchers (and Immortals to less surprise)-Aliens exist! It's lots of fun to imagine it anyway. |
Irda chapter 13 . 9/21/2009 Wow, I know others have said this but...sequel please! Perhaps from the point of view of a rival system lord or one of Methos' Jaffa or perhaps from the viewpoint of a/the Tok'ra? just to make it a bit different. I love the dialogue, and also the psychology involved in the various interactions, most especially the insight into Teal'c. I have to admit I've read this story at least 10 times by now, it's one of my top 5 all time favourite fanfic stories. |
