*frantically trying for a look of composure*
No I did NOT start crying again just now!
... well, okay...
righty. so I guess this might just have to be my favorite one among your stories (although, as I am still kind of going back and forth and am not reading your things in any chronological order whatsoever, there are still a few to come, yay...)
well, that Kane-guy remained a bit of a mystery to me. although you made his "sort of" motive pretty damn clear early on it was just a bit... I don't know, does it make sense if I say some reason as senseless as his didn't strike me as too convincing? (oh, hell, my sense of logic sounds pretty messed up, huh?)
in a really off way Hannah's fate didn't even seem to be as appalling as it really is; just like Sammy hopes for him and Dean to be together, she might not be as alone as she'd have been in real life, after all...
aww, so sad all this...
(you know, my head starts hurting from scrunching up my face so much here... seriously, now...)(:
anyways, the way you try to deal with all the issues some of the episodes never dealt with enough and left for us to ponder is awesome. (:
thanks for that.
and for the attempted light tone at the ending of this.
without that they wouldn't be Sam and Dean, right?
(although we'll eternally watch for those scary dark undercurrents in everything they say and do, oh, what's with us...) (:
and now I better start to unfurrow my brow again, if I'll manage... (:
| tylee17 chapter 5 . 9/6/2008
oh, I KNEW you'd do something really evil the second I set eyes on your little apology at the beginning of this chapter...
it should've warned me not to listen to some frigging Sigur Ros-song while reading it, but, well, obviously I'm not one for smart moves when it comes to taking a hint...
though I can't quite say I suspected this right from the start I sure did wonder how this little "not quite" chance of a prospect of fluff would end for Dean...
okay, preparing myself for the following now...
| tylee17 chapter 4 . 9/6/2008
oh man, I really thought I might just read on without bothering to review much along the way, but you're making it so hard again... (:
Like, presenting us with these lines here:
She started shaking again and Dean self-consciously took both of her hands in his. His personal space issues could wait."
I so ge the whole personal space issues! (:
yeah, and the phone conversation, and the humor (heck, with the funniest KISS reference included? LoL), and...
um, okay, on I go...
| tylee17 chapter 3 . 9/6/2008
well, if this ain't one intriguing story! it's really really good (:
(okay, as if you wouldn't know by now that I like all your stories. but, be that as it may...)
the Hannah-Sam comparisons are working quite well, as is the mirroring of both cars and what that implies (what it implies in my opinion, anyways...)
and Hannah is such a great character that it does make me more than a little sad that she and Dean... well, you know...
- what was that about impending doom again?
anyways, awesome job on "creating" her and filling her with so much life
...Dean and pie, huh? (:

Really nice job in capturing the insight of why Dean make the DEAL.
| bhoney chapter 6 . 6/8/2008
Okay, going in order:
I gotta say, I never get tired of watching Dean get all protective with pregnant ladies. :) LOVED him and Sam standing up for her with Kane, even when they had just met her and didn't know her story.
Wow, didn't see it coming that Hannah's husband was dead. And this really blindsided me too: " 'Look Sam, I spent a lot of time when we were little trying to keep you in pop tarts and macaroni. Sometimes making deals is all you can do.' He looked back up and laughed like it wasn’t anything, but his eyes were haunted. 'Feeding a ten year old who can eat his weight in hamburgers wasn’t easy. Don’t even get me started on trying to keep you in shoes.' Sam swallowed past a suddenly constricted throat. Dean and deals. Always making deals to save his little brother." Wow. Great insight into Dean's character (and the deal).
And the scene with Hannah and Sam talking about how she left her family's ways, and Dean's reaction to the whole thing, and the echoes of Sam's fight with his dad over leaving? Brilliantly done!
Loved the pie banter. And the nun thing. And the coded phone call with Hannah-that was really smart of her. Dean was really sweet, comforting Hannah after Kane had her in the house alone. Loved that Dean said Sam "couldn't give a kindergartner the eye". LOL
Loved when Hannah was talking to Dean and Sam about having faith, and it making it easier to die, knowing you were going somewhere better. I really liked how you tied that into Dean's deal, and his thoughts on Sam not being with him, that he just couldn't trust that Sam was in a better place. You really got into his head, and everything you said rang true to his character. Loved this, of course, from Sam: "Watch me, those eyes said. Watch me fight to the death to save you." I love a determined Sam trying to save his brother.
NO! NOnononononono...you killed HANNAH! And the BABY! Oh NO, how COULD you? *weeps* Cabbage, I trusted you to save that woman! Well, let the boys save her, you know what I mean. Ah, man. I can't believe she's dead. That makes me really, really sad.
Oh, Dean! He's so brokenhearted. *weeps, more*
And then this: "And then came the djinn to screw it all up again. No harem pants, no funny hats, just tattoos and the power to break a man’s heart, rip it right out of his chest and crush it while he looked on. For Dean to come back, it must have been like choosing between heaven and hell. And then Sam had died in Dean’s arms. Those vague memories, those few seconds after the pain had passed, he knew them for what they were now. His death. Dean’s frightened voice. The knowledge that it was over… And then Dean had chosen Hell again." *weeping continues*
And then this: " 'If he saved her… but he couldn’t be with her… if he had to be alone…' 'That would be unbearable. ... But when we do die… and let’s face it, one of these days, something bigger and meaner is gonna take us out-' 'You mean again?' 'When that happens, we’re still gonna be together. I believe that.' 'You do, huh?' 'Yeah. So don’t screw it up.' 'You mean again?' 'Yeah, again.' *sigh* Beautifully done. Really liked how you addressed issues of faith in here.
Some more great insight: "For all the craziness and the unbelievable things they’d seen, Dean’s ability to accept that there was good out there as well as evil was stunted, cut off at the knees. That was partially why Dean had been so frantic when Sam died. He just couldn’t bring himself to believe that if Sam wasn’t with him, beside him and breathing, that he was ok. Sam just added it to the list of things to do. Dean, dying, faith."
LOVED this, from Sam: "It’ll make what the djinn did for you look like crap in comparison." So true. Nice to think of the boys having that someday.
And the banter at the end was totally funny, with the used probe (ew!) and the golf cart, and the sense of humor that made Sam so tall. Thanks for ending it on a lighter note.
So, all in all, even though I'm still miffed that you killed Hannah! and the BABY! I liked this story anyway. Though I'm still weeping. *sniffles* I hope you're happy!

This is such a beautiful story. The ending was great, and your humor was spot on.
I just wish you hadn't killed Hannah. I was so sad and surprised when I read that.

Whoa, that's just mean! Is it wrong to love it...? :)
| Queen Banshee chapter 6 . 5/1/2008
Wow... This story was amazing. Liked the whole thing from the first word to the very last. Especially loved the ending and the brothers' little conversation about what happens when you die. That scene made me laugh... Dean and his car... He just couldn't survive without it... Just brilliant. :)
| Tari Roo chapter 6 . 3/19/2008
Depressingly awful. Failure-soaked and bitter. Deals looming, parallel lives and similarities and old hurts. Psycho neighbours and misguided ghosts bent on murder.
Depressing - and Awesome.
I really liked the non verbal conversation between Sam and Dean, whilst Hannah was talking about her family. Very well done. Hands off, gloves on and powerful.
Did I mention depressing already?
| frenchfredo chapter 6 . 1/18/2008
and here i am, tears in my eyes but smiling. Outstanding story, my favorite so far, thank you.
| frenchfredo chapter 5 . 1/18/2008
OMG. That's terrible. So sad. OMG...
| frenchfredo chapter 4 . 1/17/2008
Sam didn’t have to do anything. He’d been born looking trustworthy. Amazing really since he was a scruffy looking sasquatch who could break a person in half.
hehehe, unfair isn't it...

“I’m being punished for flirting with a nun.”
| frenchfredo chapter 2 . 1/17/2008
Dean admiting how hard it was sometimes to raise Sam, heartbreaking...
