|Reviews for Locusani: Saavedro's Tale|
| Charis77 chapter 18 . 11/25/2014
I recently replayed Exile and was once again impressed with Brad Dourif's portrayal of Saavedro. I wondered then if anyone had written a fic for him on Fanfiction. So glad to find yours! So wonderfully done! It captures his pain and draws you in. And the ending-so touching and beautiful. Well done.
| X-I-L2048 chapter 18 . 9/13/2011
Beautiful story! Saavy is one of my favorite characters in the Myst franchise, and to see his descent in to madness and eventual liberation was an emotional rollercoaster ride, to say the least. Your use of imagery to describe people, animals, and places, and the chronological catalogue of Saavedro becoming more and more unstable and broken as he loses hope was handled perfectly. I especially enjoyed the flashbacks and your expounding upon the Narayani culture and beliefs. The ending was just perfect, and I hope that’s how the real game ended. Again, beautiful story, and thank you for writing!

Okay so...I couldn't stop reading. I was late for Barn Hours just now because I didn't stop reading. I could *hear* Saavedro talking this in my ear the entire time, you have his voice down so well!
I'm glad you picked the 'good' ending I probably would have cried if you hadn't! Are you planning on a sequel? There may be lynching involved...
I loved it.

This chapter rocks, your a great writer.
| Three-Eyed Squirrels chapter 18 . 10/9/2007
You write Saavedro's madness extremely well. And I know a lot about madness and imprisonment, haha. So I can say that you've done a fantastic job. You've captured his voice and his fraying state beautifully. This chapter had me nearly inches from the screen.
Yeah, Exile made me cry. The end of Exile and Rev, both had me going.
Ah. Warm fuzzies. Yup, they are there.
I've enjoyed this story immensely. You did a wonderful job with Saavedro...you really know him well! You're lucky he talks to you...I always wished he would, but then I got stuck with Sirrus instead :P I'm sad to see this come to a close because I always looked forward to it. You're an excellent writer, dude.

Woohoo! You introduced the elevator Easter eggs! I just love your explanation for it... XD
God, your Saavy is always so IC, I barely notice it and keep forgetting to tell you. But it’s just amazing, as I read, I can hear every thought and line in Dourif’s voice! This is really a great job, and the talking squee is starting to be my favorite character _;
| dreemun chapter 15 . 10/8/2007
You know what? This is most certainly my favorite chapter.
And do you know why?
Well, because of all the Tamra-centered stuff. I mean, everything is very well written, the way he changes things is really good and entertaining to read - but what kept me riveted to the whole thing is undoubtedly the way hatred and thirst for vengeance changes the way he looks at her. Until he can’t even stand her gaze...
It is just - spellbinding. I love that concept. And I love the part with the eyes.
Hats off on this one. Really.

The talking squee, the talking squee, the talking sque! XD I luv talking squees...
And I just laughed my head off at the “It *is* nearly lunch!” lol
The painting of Tamra is very beautiful, too, and it made me so sad... :’(

The making of the hammer... he he he!
Actually, I had never thought he had crafted it this late in his exile - I assumed he used it long before, for his work, for squee-hunting... But then again, your version might be making more sense: as a Narayani, it is quite possible that the making of a *weapon* wouldn’t have come to his mind so quickly.
Very nice chapter, and Saavedro’s thoughts are very IC as usual, down to their formulation. :)
| dreemun chapter 12 . 10/8/2007
That last part is definitely my favorite. The way he looks at his reflection, the way he thinks of himself, of Atrus, and despises all the world... it’s very powerful.
| dreemun chapter 11 . 10/8/2007
Once again, the growing sour feelings towards Atrus are a very good idea - it is often like that in real life anyway, we don’t feel angry towards the right person, for who knows what psychological reason. It is very well described, too...
I like the idea that Saavedro had just fallen off the cliff when Atrus came, and that it’s why he couldn’t move...
| dreemun chapter 10 . 10/8/2007
The tapestry-ripping part is totally awesome. O.O
Also, I think you’re totally right in thinking that Saavedro might have attempted suicide at some point. It seems like a logical point in his madness...
| dreemun chapter 9 . 10/8/2007
*shudders again, despite the fact that it’s the second time she reads that and knew what was coming* Too well done for the reader’s own good. You need to change that. lol -No, really, this is bashing. I repeat what I said on NC: your Sirrus and Achenar are both extremely IC. And as usual, Saavedro’s madness is very well described. The way two distinct voices start to appear in his mind is just great.
| dreemun chapter 8 . 10/8/2007
Well, the whole chapter is very well done and all, nothing to say apart from praise...
And what really beats me is the final part. And the last sentence... (mwahaha - s-o-o-o-o eevul!)
