|Reviews for What Was, and What Will Be|
| sapphermine chapter 1 . 11/20/2009
Wow. That was so beautiful. Honestly, I can't express how much I loved this story!3
I love how you built up how lonely Sam was, especially how we know that he wouldn't feel that way with Dean around. And then Dean appeared and I cheered inside. But when he disappeared the next morning (and upon looking back that he just appeared and the room was cold T_T), I just knew I was going to be sad. When Sam learned Dean wasn't real, *sigh*, cracks began to appear in my heart to finally break into tiny little pieces when Sam went to talk to not-real!Dean for the last time. But then, Dean came true! That part was done so nicely! Amazing work!
Just when I was wondering if Sam was the only one who forgot that Dean wasn't real before, you added that scene in Faith. This has got to be the most creative AU/Faith-tag on that I've read. Loved every inch of it 3

What a wonderful story! An extremely creative idea, and perfectly executed. It gave me a case of the warm fuzzies :).
You write very well from young Sam's perspective; he is believable as a five-year-old. The moment he realizes Dean isn't real is quite sad, as is the revelation that the actual Dean died at age four. Your descriptions of the different people Sam had to stay with (Pastor Jim, Caleb, Bill and Ellen, Bobby) were very effective. Also, these lines were particularly vivid:
"He heard it roll down the hall, and eerily, bounce down the staircase.
"Pulling himself up, Dean grabbed the branch he was hanging from and flipped over out of the tree, sticking a two point landing. Dust swirled out from under his sneakers. It looked pretty gosh darn real to Sam."
I printed the story for my mom to read, and she really enjoyed it as well. She especially liked that Sam did not remember having wished Dean into being, which was one of my favorite aspects of the fic as well. That, and Joshua's "cryptic" comment at the end :).
Nice job all around - thanks for sharing this with us!

Wow, what a clever idea! I can't even express how much I loved this story. It was so sad that Sam's brother died in the fire. I kinda wondered if this Dean wasn't his spirit, just aging as he would've if he hadn't died. Seemed like too big a coincidence for them to have the same name otherwise. Anyway, I LOVED the idea that Dean exists because Sam wished so hard for him to. Wonderful!
