Totally awesome story! This is exactly what fanfiction should be.

I don't know if harry is actually cruel in this story. I think he's manipulative, cautious, cunning and aware but cruel I think not.

With as annoying hermione was in the first like 6 years in the book, if this harry was a cruel person he would have made sure to off her as well and honestly since she's a muggleborn no one would really care.

The perfect set of solutions. It’s suprising that more kids didn’t see through Quirrel. Abused children become street smart. That describes most of Slytherin.

First -and this IS nitpicking, I know...

Little Wigling is a Suburb. I SINCERELY doubt it even HAS policemen. I never saw hide noe tail of one while I lived in Roehampton at least, that's that's in London proper even, if a bit out

Also: Harry is a child. Did YOU understand nutrition, weight, and medical shit when YOU when to elementary school? Really? Cuz I know I didn't. Nor anyone I've known.

They don't teach kids what malnutrition IS.
But the dursley's taught Harry that neglect and minor abuse was perfectly normal.

(I wouldn't be suprised if Harry ended up backhanding his own children when he grows up. Children learn parenting skills from those they grow up with. Doubly so if EVERYONE treats it as normal -and even dumbledore insists it's not THAT bad, and sends him back even when he begs to stay. To him a light smack on the head is barely even a "love-tap", not abuse. Another reason I think he and Ginny is a doomed relationship.)

The Oliver Twist comparason makes sense. But wpuld they actually teach that to elementary school kids? Oo

He's not exactly allowed time or opportunity to read or watch telly...ever. So all he CAN know is what school teaches him.

Don't get me wrong; I LOVE this story!

But like far too many fanfics, it has a few minor logic-flaws.

People tend to forget that children do not know the same things as adults do. And more; they don't know what adults know ISN'T possible -which is a missed opportunity.

(When dogs talk on telly, a child will assume real dogs talk too... until they meet one and their paremt explain that cartoon dogs are not real dogs.

They learn bids can fly, and think that if they just make wings from cardboard and jump off they roof, they can fly too. Until they crash into the ground and end in the hospital.

Nothing is impossible to a human mind until they are taught that it is. Which is why children say and do the damnest things.)

How does he know what child abuse is? He's not allowed to read books or watch telly. And school and adults certainly don't talk about such things.

He is right that adults pretend to not see it tho. I've read too many real life stories where the abuse is blantantly obvious, yet no one calls the police. Not until the child is old enough to run away after being forced to set their younger brother on fire and finds working as a whore a better life, and it still takes years before the child admits to the abuse (okay, that was just one time, most abuse is not QUITE that bad)

I love the lessons he learns.
I do not love that he thinks like an adult when he is not.

The nihilistic/realistic world view makes sense.
Hus conclutions and recognition of concepts he has no way of even understanding, much less know about, does not.

Fyi: Hogwarts, like all British schools (save a few Privat Schools for the wealthy) is 100% Paid by the Goverment -according to JK Rowling's twitter.

Only the schoolbooks and items cost anything.

(The Weasley's is poor because they had seven children without thinking about how to feed them all, and because Arthur selfishly refuse promotion because he loves his low paying job, while his clearly over-eating wife can't get a job because they have seven effing kids that she has not enough time to take care of.

It's no wonder that Ron is forgotten between her running after the twins to schold them, dotting on her only daughter, cooking, cleaning, and nagging the rest to do better in school.

If his brothers hadn't already done everything he COULD have done to stand out, thus leaving him unmotivated to life a finger, he'd be in Slytherin JUST to be food enough to get his mother's attention.)

Considering that the origional story allows 3 nostly untrained children to get through to the Stone -CLEARLY a trap-, WHY did dumbledore change it to actually protection?

The stone would have been safer with it's original owner, because he KNEW Voldemort was there. And if it was hard to reach, it wouldn't work as a trap at all.

(Especially since it was so clearly designed to play on Harry & co's strengths. Indicating dumbles tried to force a meeting between Harry and Voldie.)

That said, I DO love this story. It's brilliant. _
