| Maria chapter 1 . 1/2
Oh, poor Sam! What a trouble a historical record for generations gives!
| 5SecstoThrowItFB chapter 1 . 7/3/2013
Ah, the problems with being best friends with all of the legends of the Age! (And Galadriel is also a Noldo... so that kind of makes no sense... although she is half Telerin... and kudos for the Silm knowledge! I loved the Celebrimbor distinction :) )
| Petrichora chapter 1 . 2/23/2013
Quick, Sam: print off a copy of "While the Ring Went South" and throw it at them: that ought to at least pacify the complaints about the lack of details on the way to Moria. ;)
Oy, no wonder Sam decided to leave the book with Elanor and mysteriously disappeared from Middle-earth...
| Millenium Roger chapter 1 . 11/4/2012
I found this story laugh-out-loud funny and really wonderful. It's definitely something I'll be coming back to next time I need some quick laughs :)
You are an excellent writer, I am really enjoying working my way through all of your stories, which are all wonderful and unique in their own way.
| bjelka chapter 1 . 5/4/2011
This story may be mostly inane, as you said, but what does that matter if it's so funny and wonderfully written?
The three of them are that vain! Fretting about such little details no one except for them will ever pay attention to. And Faramir isn't any better - or even worse: first pretending to be saving Sam and then that. The poor Hobbit!
He should have added a disclaimer: "All persons, locations, actions and events are described from the Hobbits' point of view, as the authors observed or were told about them. The report is not exhaustive. Thus it may differ from the experience of other people involved."
But I don't know if that really would have spared him his headache...
| aotearoan chapter 1 . 3/31/2011
I absolutely love this story. It's all pitch-perfect, the characters, the plot bits it picks out on, and it's extremely funny. I can't believe I haven't reviewed it before, I've read it more than once!
| Shipwright's Trick chapter 1 . 3/18/2010
Ouch. My own head is throbbing in sympathy. : )
| Virodeil chapter 1 . 1/3/2010
Ahahahahaha! Oh my. No word or praise can describe what I felt when I was reading the piece... It was truly hilarious! I love it very much! All the small titbits (Hey! Why did you not included Pippin's using Boromir's shield as a sledge in While the Ring Goes South? *whine* And What about Legolas' falling from a tree?) tickled me so much! And Aragorn's stubbornness about his not being tired during the journey to Imladris... *shake head* Then poor Sam had to endure Faramir's droning about his own part in the book when Sam least thought about it... Hahahahahaha! Poor, poor Sam. I did not expect that the story would turn out like this when I read the title and summary! A great work, surely! *grin* Thanks for sharing this. I would say that it could have been extended with all the bumps along the canon of Lord of the Rings and the sources from your own stories... but I pity Sam too much for that. Again, a well-done humor everyone should read!
| Mariagoner chapter 1 . 6/14/2009
This was delightful and so funny and in-character for them all! Oh Sam... the last reversal with Faramir was HILARIOUS.
| yamina-chan chapter 1 . 4/23/2009
Oh my... XD
I feel so sorry for Sam! It must have been horrible.
I never want to be near when a discussion like this is the matter
It was fun to read anyway
| adsfjkl chapter 1 . 1/14/2008
that was hilarious!
| Siriusly Loopy chapter 1 . 1/13/2008
Poor Sam! I'm sure Frodo did a wonderful job and there don't need to be any corrections on that minor a scale. There's so small that nobody would notice. Oh, well.
| Twist chapter 1 . 1/5/2008
loved this story, thought you captured the personalities of the characters exactly - hoping for more sotires from you soon!
| Random Lurker chapter 1 . 1/1/2008
Ha Ha, oh I can just see that happening. Just too funny. You know, I should really print out all your short stories and fillers and place them in my own LOTR book. They are that good and really believable.
Have you abandoned by any chance? I'm still eagerly awaiting the continuation of "Land of Light and Shadow" and "Fear No Darkness". You havn't updated them in 2 years. Ah, well. I will still keep checking them because you are without a doubt my favorite LOTR writer. I really like the way you weave in politics, customs etc. into your stories. Brilliant. Tolkien would be proud, i'm sure of it.
You know, I think you would be one of the few people who would be able to pull off a believable Legolas romance. There are just way too many Mary Sue stories on here. I had hoped that the movie mania would have calmed down by now, but it dosn't look that way.
Ok, i'll shut up now, this is becoming too long. Thanks for being such a fantastic writer.
| Rhys chapter 1 . 10/15/2007
That is absolutely beautiful. I never even imagined what the others would have thought of the Red Book, and this is fantastic. Poor, poor Samwise. Of course, you know, you really ought to write some of those events between Rivendell and Moria yourself. Because of course, you need more to do, right? It was all fantastic. I especially love Faramir's devious rescue-that-wasn't. It may be inane, but it's brilliantly so!
