| Arnel 63 chapter 7 . 10/12/2012
Oh, how I wish you'd finished this story. It's one of my favorites because you make Rose and Scorpius so very real. I'd very much like to know what happens next, but I realize you're probably never going to finish this delightful story, so I'm resigned to wondering if Scorpius ever gets to kiss Rose like he wants and if Rose exposes James for what he seems, arrogant, cruel and nearly as heartless as Ron makes Draco out to be.

Hi, I am the same Cassy that reviewed you a while ago. This is a great story and I am a big fan. Please, for the sake of your fans, write another chapter. (I'm trying to be encouraging, sorry if it's not working.) But really, don't feel too pressured but I was really enjoying your story and felt like writing another review just to encourage you. This is my favorite Scorpius/Rose story and I hope you finish it eventually. Happy writing!

Oh, this is gonna be good! I really like where this is going, and while this story deviates from what is generally Scorpius/Rose, I really like it! Great job, and update soon!

This is my 1st time reviewing (sorry) but I must compliment you on what a lovely story you have created. I think of all the Rose/Scorpius stories I've read, yours is definitely the most original and artistic. Your characterization of Rose is so delightful; she is a mixture of both her but still her own person. In most R/S fics I've read Rose is either to similar to Hermione or too different and rebellious. I like how your Rose is more unique and not as determined by her parent's personalities. As I said earlier, you style of writing has an artistic quality that I'd love my writing to have someday. Your story is very visual and reminds me a little of old-fashioned styles of writing. This is in my top two for best Rose/Scorpius fanfiction. I would be so disappointed if you didn't finish the story. Can you please, please, please update? (Pout) I promise to review every new chapter you write! ;) Your Fan Cassy

I just have to say, I've been a fan of yours for a long time and 'The Mechanics of the Human Engine' is one of my all-time favourite fics. I'm so glad you decided to write Rose/Scorpius!
This is a really fresh take on the ship, which is filled with old Draco/Ginny or Draco/Hermione cliches, with Scorpius playing the really smooth fanon!Draco and the two characters having a love/hate relationship due to their families' rivalry. I love how awkward they are, which isn't a popular take on teenage characters for some reason, and the underlying sexual tension between them.
I like how Scorpius is genuinely nice and how clever they are but not so that it is a defining trait for either character. I also like how they're not best friends, but are obviously interested in getting to know each other (Scorpius and Rose either hate each other or are best friends, it seems). As others have said, your descriptions and dialogue are really good but that really is a given.
Well done and I hope you update soon!

Best Next-Generation pairing ever. Great story!
| Canetoad chapter 7 . 3/26/2008
This story is excellent. No question! You have really captured (and defined) the contrasting, yet memorable characters of Scorpius and Rose. Further still, the adults seem to have matured with age, but still retain some of their childhood beliefs and instincts.
I've always liked this pairing for a few reasons. First, it definitely has a Romeo/Juliet overtone to it (rival families unable to let go of their prejudices). Also, Scorpius and Rose seem like two people who would definitely be attracted to each other. Scorpius, hailing from a rich, aristocratic background, has likely been taught how to act, feel, etc in the eyes of the public. He desires someone who can show him how to be sincere and genuine to himself and others. Rose, on the other hand, wants a fairytale ending of sorts; a dashing knight in shining armor (forgive the cliche) but who still needs help in bringing out his true self.
Of course, their parents are as stubborn as they were in their youth. They refuse to let two children explore a relationship without obsessing over past (mis)deeds. Draco, in his adulthood, reminds me oddly of Snape. But the kids are not copys of their parents, as evidenced by their being sorted into Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw, respectively.
You absolutely MUST continue this story to its completion. I get the feeling that Draco will have another enlightening talk with his son, and perhaps even to Rose, as well. I'd like to see Draco turn to a painting of a Malfoy ancestor for guidance (so as to spare his wife from his own demons)
Oh, and I think an epilogue after the story is a must. Anyway, keep up the great work!
