I just wanted to say that this was an incredible story, from start to finish, and one of the first rayne stories I've ever actually taken the time to review. I really appreciate how you portrayed the characters and their relationship, and it honestly seems just so much more true to how they would actually act than how other stories make them out to be. But overall, very well done.

This is a fantastically written story. I couldn't put it down! The emotions and character development felt real. Darwhen was a great OC and the way she met River was something I could see happening on the show. The timing for the story is great, allowing everyone on Serenity to develop their relationships more - it's a settled crew when the OC is thrown in and I think it serves the story very well. The writing style was absorbing and you didn't hit a false note with the characters. As another reviewer said, the role reversal is refreshing - it seems most writers like to make River the pursuer but Jayne's pursuit here seems so true to where the characters might be if they'd gone down that path. I really like the idea of Jayne and River developing a real partnership before any hint of romance develops. And as a side note, Zoe was well done in this as well - I like that you kept her single and stoic, as I imagine she'd be for several years after the events of the film. And extra props for not devolving into needless porn, lol. Great story. :)

This was a beautiful story. Very true to the characterizations of the original cast and your oc Darwhen was very realistic in terms of her mannerisms as a child. Great job.

That was just about one of the cutest things ever. I can just picture Jayne all flustered trying to explain death and the afterlife to a kid. Book and his Ma would be proud.
| all forms of fluff chapter 14 . 12/8/2012
This was an awsome little story icebreather. The three years skip from the movie really opened up plot development as pretty much anything you wanted to happen didn't have to be explored in story, like River's first heart break. I simply wish to thank you for delevering such a well writen story. I would be interested in how you would write a firefly story where River never 'got sane' to such as she was in this one. But then I have only read two such stories where she dosn't get better and still be great stories. So one again I thank you for this story and hope you have fun with your current projects.

Honestly despite ur disclaimer, adoption can be just like this scenerio in the story. Not all adoptions are positive experiences just as not all are bad but that isn't to say that bad things don't happen in real life to adopted kids...

This story is SO delightful, and I'm astounded you don't have 100x more reviews! The way you wrote Jayne & River was so sweet and I just love little Darwhen. Well done. Off to read the rest of your stories!

Really enjoyed this. Well done!
| Irishbrneyes chapter 1 . 7/29/2011
KUDOS to you! And thank you for putting a story out there where Jayne is the one in pursuit of the relationship! I love this pairing, and you wrote it beautifully. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

This was fantastic! A true pleasure to read! You did an amazing job and I am very pleased to add this to my favorites list!

Honestly, the whole River/Jayne ship is something I don't expect I'll ever get my head entirely wrapped around but I really enjoyed this. I liked that the events of the series/film, coupled with the passage of time since, allowed both characters to grow to a place where they were (eventually) ready for it - which is to say thank you for not making it feel rushed.
| dedanaan chapter 14 . 10/23/2010
This was a lovely story. I had a lump in my throat when Darwhen was given to the agency and then again in the final chapters when they brought her home. I loved Jayne's imaginary family and how he 'proposed' the family with the daughter with black eyes and crazy hair who looked nothing like her parents. Thanks for writing and sharing. _
| basaltone chapter 14 . 10/18/2010
Wonderful story. I love that for once Jayne has all the relationship stuff figured out and is confident and River is the one that is panicked. Love your new character, love this new little family. Thanks so much for your story.

As a very recent fan of Firefy, i am still getting the feel for the characters of the series. This story is great testimont to the River-Jayne pairing and well done.
This is a well-written, heart-warming piece with enough suspense and action to balance out a believable plot.
well done and good luck in all your future endevours.
