|Reviews for Birth, and Rebirth 01: Will I?|
| whitem chapter 9 . 7/8/2009
OK 'neb... I need to say something first here, and I hope you aren't too upset about it. That was so out of character for Kim in her halted attempt to 'shut Will up forever'. Seemed a bit overboard for her to kill someone just for calling her an "Amateur".
There... With that said, I still enjoyed the chapter, and the story. Will most definitely has had a few bad things happen to him, but it appears that he now has a bright and happy future with Lindsey. (and I wonder if he will ever call her LP?)
Until the next...

I'm retired Navy. In 1972, I was coming back from the Philipines on a military flight to Travis AFB. The plane had to land at San Francisco due to a storm. I was tired, sweaty, slightly air sick, and was accompanied by about 150 other sailors, marines, and soldiers. We had to walk though the airport to buses so most of us could continue home or to our next duty station. Our reception from the Hari Krisnas, and various protesters for the Viet Nam war, was not very pleasant, and there was not a police presence there. I am so glad to see the differance to the military now. You are telling what I am seeing and hearing being done. Plus your story is fun to read. Thanks.

I wasn't sure about, "She took it and realized that it was heavy for its size" if there were only the two items in it besides the packing peanuts? I kept waiting for what gave it the weight.
Loved the first item in the box, almost ridiculously sentimental - which I think was the point.

And Will goes full circle in getting the love he has been looking for. A little dicey there when Kim almost sent him to the great beyond, though. Ron came through for her as always.
Nice touch with the air travel sequences there. They are not appreciated enough, in my mind.
And if that was their pilot, was Otto close by too...?

Meeting the family is almost always awkward in some ways - I remembered taking someone I was dating to meet the parents once. It didn't work out long term, and the parent meeting... well I had no idea what to say ;)
Nice to know he made things right with Mrs Possible. A memory like the other encounter isn't something you want to carry around without some kind of resolution. I think Apu called it a 'spiritual de-pantsing'...
Congrats again on your well-earned win, and sorry it took me so long to read this time out. I'm prepping for a trip to Texas to visit my own family, and won't be back until July 1st. I fancy there will be many stories to catch up on after that, and hopefully the last half of the Fannies...

Heh... Alternate title for ya 'neb... "Everyone Knows Claudia Rose"...
And why do I always get a little something caught in my eye every time I read your stories? It's darned inconvenient...
I'm sure it's been said before, but it's kinda nice to see this human side of Will...

Looks like Will's crossing all the bases on his way to the grand slam of the altar with Lindsey. Visiting with Keri's folks for their blessing is really big for all there, but so soft a tribute to his young love's memory. But her dad really had some stroke in the world Du travels, I'd be a little respectful no matter what.
As for Anne, she got lucky when Will visited with the roses, but the phrase 'trust but verify' came to mind before opening that door... And that came to pass when Du wanted to meet with Kim to apologize also.
But then came the meeting with all family and each one was pretty emotional. It seems that all had a sad moment in time that took loved ones from all parties. They all will cherish those who have gone before them and look forward with those by their sides.
Now comes the meeting of Will, Lindsey and the recently wed Betty...

Do you think Will Du will ever get up the nerve to ask Lindsey to wear a pair of pradas like Anna?
Keep it KP real

Good chapter, 'neb. It's always good to get to know the characters we were meant to intensely dislike. It's also good when you can take what we were supposed to hate about them, and turn it into something good.
Mr. Du may be fastidious, rigid and woefully lacking in humour in his job, but he does get the job done. Sometimes he just needs a swift kick in the right direction.

Dang... They barely met, and already saying "I Love You's"...
Nice background on Will and why he's so stand-offish towards anyone he considers an amateur.
Lookin' forward to the next chap 'nebster...
(Thanks for the Grats... and the same to you...)

The Pit? When did Wade,Joss,Betty, and Slim had this put in?
I am not surprize you didn't put the word " Passion" in front of it.
Hea! Ja-Ja, I didn't you played cello.
( Ja-Ja)Meesa didn't know I played cello think Neb got a screw loose.
( She drove me like a herd of cattle from Texas to Kansas City)So what did happen out on the ole Chisholm Trail in the back of that conestoga wagon?
Keep it KP real

Humor/Romance? Your humor contains a higher level of angst than the few angst works I've done.
*Long pause while I decide if I should be honest or not*
Decided to go with honest, sorry. I simply tend to find your people too perfect. Not sure how many women who are physically perfect I've read descriptions of in your stories - it feels like all of them (although I'm sure it's not). Too many individuals morally, mentally, psychologically, or in some other way perfect. Tragedy may come from without - be it murder, blindness, torture, accident, botched robbery, or a terrorist car bomb - but too often it only underscores the nobility of the survivor and how it forged his/her character. I'm pretty sure this is not the case, but this is often how I feel as I read a chapter. (Maybe these are the ones which stick in my mind and I overlook the others.)
I want a little less perfection in meals, clothing, rooms, legs, busts, and moral vision. Wouldn't mind a slightly lower body count either.

Quite a few things came out from this meeting of theirs. Painful loss and a vow. Drove the Agent pretty hard until Lindsey came around.
| Thomas Linquist chapter 7 . 5/22/2009
So much of what shapes these characters is the loss of somebody who has made them better than what they might have been. With Du, the loss forced him to put up a wall, one that might well have kept him from being who Kerri wanted him to be.
I do love how this fictional bunker in Montana lets these people free themselves fo their shadows.
May you find your "bunker" sir!

Ohh Man 'neb... I am so sorry I got behind in this story. I had to do a quick re-cap before reading your latest addition.
We are truly delving deep in the psychy (sp?) of Will, aren't we? Should be interesting indeed.
And you have introduced yet *another* red head? I swear... one more red head in this story, and I think we've got a record here. (That is if it isn't already)
Looking forward to the next chapter...
