I've been here before and I'm sure I'll be here again, thank you for writing a truly lovely story that really holds up!

Just reread this whole series and it is STILL one of my absolute favorite fics in ANY fandom. Just, so very very well done. Thanks so much for writing it.

Fourth time through.

Still one of my favorite Firefly stories. The only thing I think to add, that hasn't already been said in previous reviews, is that I wish there was another story to continue this tale. If you're looking for inspiration then I would suggest something along the lines of a time skip, and the "Aliance civil war" ramping up with Serenity being flagged for a 'special' transport by one of the Operatives. The Transport could be of another Academy student, and they would show up in a business suit and blue gloves. And Male or Female this "Graduate" could cause disruption in the Jayne/River dynamic in a way that has them "slipping" into the couple's dreams. Hell, you could start an entire new series where you mimic the Horseshoe nail series where the "first installment" would just be River and Jayne alone with the Graduate in second shuttle craft for a few days while this person completes their mission.

Well, blatant story baiting aside. I do love the series that you have actually wrote. I like how River went from broken to ... better? Stable sounds better. Jayne's acceptance of not only her but his own feelings was wonderfully displayed. You really captured the feel of the show and even seemed to keep the characters in character, something not a lot of fanfiction writers can pull off.

It's been a minute since these stories were posted and I don't know of you'll get this message or not, but I wanted to say that I loved these stories and I'm so glad that I found them. :)

Really enjoy this series. Kinda hope you do write the spin off of the brother Mattie and his cousins. Think it'd be a lot of fun to write, and to read, 'bout Jayne's little brother and cousins as criminal masterminds and such. Maybe they'd kinda turn into a new Badger or somethin'. Or even maybe fake a rep, like a slightly less creepy Niska, but built on more bluff and less sociopath. Or something. Just sounds all kinds of fun to hear that story.

Read Horseshoe nails in one go. It was lovely. Thank you.

Third time through.

The story is just as impactful as the last two times I've gone over it. This series is one of those that I consider 'Great Ones', those stories that are connected to cannon enough to be recognizable while at the same time being so original as to be a complete original story. Although it is tied too fully with the world of Firefly to ever really separate into an a true original work like those more famous Fanfic writers that you hear about in the news. (Fifty shades of Grey being a twilight fan fic I believe is the most famous example, though I recall that a Harry Potter one was made that people seemed to like.)

Even a third time though I found myself tearing up when Jayne, River, Kaylee went shopping and Mal made a comment that just punctured the happy mood that Jayne had been in. I've had more moments then I care to remember and I feel my heart break along with him. I also find the slow build up to Jayne and River being together. Most "Authors" tend to rush past the build up of a relationship they wish to write about that they all but just throw the couple in question into a room and have them give a synopsis of all the 'reasons' that they should be together and 'Oh, you're so right, lets shag right now.' So I rather like the build up you put into this paring. I think my favorite line was when River refused to return Jayne's hat because she "Looked Cunning". I don't think you ever said that she gave it back either.

I'm also a little sad that the story didn't continue. I would so be into a future story with young ones on the ship and Matti an his crew looking to start their own business and Serenity and Mal starting their own trading fleet. Or something like the Marshals that Book had Been, that detailed the verse after the Maranda wave. That is just insane wish fulfilment but I think I would read another story in the continuity you have developed, without it necessarily being about Jayne and River, though them creating a side business using Inara's shuttle after she moves in with Mal, so Jayne and River can be someplace that don't have Kids under foot.

What ever you do in the future know that You at least have made me a fan of this set of stories. I'll try so of you other works some other time. Thank you for sharing this with the world.

P.S. I forgot that you can't post on chapters you have already placed a review. When I come back for the fourth time I'm going to have to remember to leave my praise on chapter 5.

I absolutely love how you write them all. This series is my absolute favorite firefly series. I came across two gorram days on ao3 and had to come back here to reread the rest because they're not up on there. This series is pretty much the only fics that gets me back on here anymore but I've read them so many times and just find such a great love in them each time. They're so perfectly in character and the tone matches the show and movie so well it's easy to forget they're not actually part of canon.

What a great series this was to read! You seemed to capture all the characters so well, I could hear their voices so clearly while reading this! The story lines were great and the established story lines were altered perfectly to fit within your series.

Well I have absolutely loved this story, it has to be one of my all time favourite Firefly/Serenity stories out there :-)

I note it's not marked "complete" and I guess sadly after 11 years it's not going to be now. At least ch.8 has a sort of ending, although I am greedy enough to want more (and more !)
Even if it was just a briefish epilogue showing them all (very happy) a couple of years down the road at least (she says hopefully with fingers crossed !)

I very much enjoyed reading all your stories as they were written and have been delighted as a few of your other works migrated over to AO3 (so I can read them on my Kindle!). You're a great writer, and I hope that you're doing well and are appreciated for the talented writer/person you are.

Loved this series just as much this time as all the rest that I've read it. Such a well put together series with great understanding of the characters. You k ow just how to change things to fit what you want without making it seem out of place or out of character.
