Jen Rock chapter 3 . 9/11/2014 I loved this! The Decepticons were all amusing in their reactions to Starscream's appearance. Scavenger was adorable as were his gestaltmates in their protectiveness over him. The description of Starscream's polished self was amazing and there were a lot of amusing moments. Great job. |
Shadow Kitsune11 chapter 3 . 6/3/2014 I rather enjoyed this story and at the end I Had the thought of what would happen if the Autobots got a hold of some of Swindle's pictures. Ether through buying from Swindle or from a secret mission from Jazz. I thought that the reactions most of the bots on base would have to them and possibly them having to explain those reactions to the humans would be hilarious. So could you do a fallow through. Please. |
Stobene chapter 3 . 1/2/2012 Wow. Oh heck, does this have me fanning myself. Your words are lyrical, your studies of the characters are thoughtful and persuasive. I love the interaction of the gestalt members and the trines, and how you manage to evoke the evil!badness! of the Decepticons but still give them moments of genuine concern and caring. And that description of Starscream - if a picture paints a thousand words, then those thousand words certainly painted a picture! I can just imagine the 'Cons wedged in the doorway, all trying to get an eyeful - I would be right there with them! And to top it all off, there's a plot there too, just enough to move the story along, without feeling the need to skimp on the wonderful detailing of every moment. Fantastic! |
TsukiyomiNeko chapter 3 . 10/12/2011 All I can say is Nice! |
JenEvan chapter 3 . 10/2/2010 First of all, your detailed, vivid description of Star's beauty totally have me joining the worshipping crowd as well xP It is like the words come together and form some sort of almost tangible picture that our senses (sight, scent, touch, taste etc) could actually feel! Next,I like how you've described and manage the dynamics between them:the Constructicons' camaderie and supportiveness of each other; the love-hate, clashing-yet-complementing dynamics of the Air Command Trine; the basic interaction dynamics between all the other Cons-you made them 3-D, probably even breath life into them. No longer flat-surfaced villains only. Skywarp's little phrases somehow feels ticklish when it was read aloud xD Even memorable, is the friendship that was founded tween Scavenger and Star. This is absolutely going into my favorites. |
Uniasus chapter 3 . 9/20/2010 Oh my fragging god. You watch G1 to look at Screamers aft, but this is the stuff of erotic fantasies. Seriously. I would be very hard pressed if anyone read this and didn't have Screamer shoot up their favorite's list. Freaking phenomenal! Your descriptions are amazing, well thought out, and dare I say erotic? Gah, I'm totally sending this to all the Screamer fans I know. |
Lin16 chapter 3 . 1/11/2010 Now that’s how Starscream should be written. You have all his faults down perfectly. Yet all the reasons for why hes in the position he is are glaringly obvious as well. Andy chance for one of those pictures, by the way? Even still, I think Skywarp was my favorite part. |
chaitea16 chapter 3 . 1/8/2010 This was a phenomenal read. The pace was slow but it had an interesting enough plot with well written characters to keep my attention. Thundercracker (a personal favorite of mine) was a thrill to watch take advantage of his reputation as ‘the straight con.’ I absolutely adored the dynamic between the constructions. Amongst them Scavenger came out particularly well. And your Skywarp formula cracked me up. It was beyond perfect on so many wonderful levels. The description of Starscream reminded me of that Captain Ahab’s 20some pages rant on how damn white that whale was. Except it was actually enjoyable to read through. And yes, the very thought of Soundwave so much as smiling, let alone giggling in a corner, would no doubt be beyond bizarre (in a creepy way, of course). The end effect was so majestically rendered I’m not sure how to go about actually commenting on it. Though I feel the two lines: “For a short while-an hour, a day, perhaps an eternity-Starscream had been everything he insisted he was.” “A scavenger couldn’t ask for more than that.” were especially striking. I can’t imagine a finer way to word the ending after the scene you depicted. |
GrowlingTurtlez chapter 3 . 12/17/2009 Hey! So I just finished re-reading "Surface Deep" for the umpteenth time, and I couldn't remember if I had reviewed it, but oh, my... I love everything about the fic. It's a beautiful character study on multiple levels, with great insight into Starscream and the Constructicons, but you've got great moments of humor, the horrific, and the occasional down-to-earth bits of good old-fashioned lust. I was going to copy and paste my favorite phrases, but there were so many, and I would have ended up just copying the whole damn thing here. But, I will say that this is one of my favorite lines: "He smiled, and it rewarded them. He frowned, and their sparks sank. He pouted, and they’d turn against each other to please him." Love love loved it. |
Shirox chapter 3 . 7/19/2009 Ah it totally goes to my favs! You described Starscream as perfect imprefection and Decepticons desire for him beautifully :) |
NybCR chapter 3 . 5/26/2009 Ooh, wonderful writing here! I loved the characterizations, especially of the individual Constructicons. And Scavenger! I never really thought about him before, but you really give him a sense of purpose here stronger than just picking up left-overs. Lovely story! |
Blackbird Snow chapter 3 . 12/3/2008 I really love the descriptions you gave Starscream in this. It felt very real and I could picture him and the reactions perfectly in my mind. Well done! |
Atalan chapter 3 . 5/25/2008 ... I _love_ your trine dynamics. I love Skywarp fiercely possessive of Starscream even as he kind of hates him, and the way they hold together, and that part about how if Starscream dumped him he'd be stuck, and the fact that he blatantly dotes on Thundercracker and doesn't realise it. I also really like the throwaway Dead End/Dirge/Breakdown idea - it works, somehow. Not to mention the Constructicons - I love it when people do them well, and I have a huge soft spot for Scavenger. I love how you had them put together the image and had him be the one who framed it, so to speak. I'm not quite sure what to make of the entire Decepticon base lusting over Starscream, though it sure as hell made me laugh - and this - "Tell Starscream to report to me directly once he returns online." "Wish I’d thought of that." - oh man, so awesome. Wish I could be a fly on the wall at THAT meeting. Or when TC and Warp get their hands on Starscream later. Also, I love your description of Skywarp at the beginning there. Sneak, Skywarp, sneaky! :D :D |
Taipan Kiryu chapter 3 . 4/9/2008 Interesting and very delightful story about the way the Decepticon inner circle works. Certainly there is much more than mere conquering ambitions. The way you wrote the characters was impeccable. Their dialogues, thoughts and behavior were so in character. Im sure Scavenger did a great job waxing Starscream. This is the best description Ive ever read about the Air Commanders outstanding beauty. This reminded me of the scene in which Grenouille is being adored by that mob (The perfume, excellent read before the movie was done). Skywarp and Thundercracker were practically selling their wing leader to the generals lust. Very Decepticon behavior! Lucky for Starscream that Megatron arrived. Otherwise things could have been very ugly for him (or pleasant?) Congrats for a great fic! |
JessiTsuki chapter 3 . 11/16/2007 This was certainly..I'm not sure 'interesting' is the correct word... It amused me greatly at parts, mm shiny Starscream.. You have a knack for description. All in all, great job. |
