The Guest Who Tried To Guess

How on earth did I never review for this story when I found it the first time? I am so completely and utterly ashamed at myself for that. It's been a few years since I last read this, and I know for a fact that I didn't truly appreciate it like I do now. I mean, talk about wow. This story is coming up on being 7 years old, and I don't even know if you'll ever see this review anyway, but I couldn't just leave without saying SOMETHING.

There is no physical way that I could ever completely get my thoughts about this story down, no matter how hard I try. The emotions you made me feel, simply by making the CHARACTERS feel is astonishing. I smiled, I laughed my fucking ass off, I was on the precipice of crying, I was angry, I was scared, I was paranoid, I was hurt, I was awed, I was stunned... I could keep going on and on about the FEELS but oh my God. If only this was a real book (despite being fanfiction), so that I could buy it and give you money from that purchase for the simple fact that you wrote this beast.

And don't EVEN get me started on the characterizations of everyone! I mean talk about spot. On. Aerith, sweet and gentle, but firm and reprimanding. Cloud being his angsty self, wallowing about in his misery until Leon snaps him out of it and is just like, "Be my boyfriend." But oh, the snide comments... Especially about stomping around in heels. AND WHEN ROXAS CALLS HIM A WOMAN dear God. And the way you made Axel so perfect but so flawed at the same time; he was absolutely the personification of himself in the game. Cocky and sure of himself, but also really insecure in a lot of ways, perverted, but not overly so... I'll admit, I'm not very familiar with Vaan's character, or Balthier or Fran (though I've come across their names before), but judging by what everyone else has said in their reviews (yes, I read about half a page of them for this chapter), I'd say you got those right as well.

And fucking hell. Roxas. So utterly at war with himself; guilty for leaving Twilight Town, for leaving his friends, his parents, but ultimately knowing it was what was best for him... The way he went from liking Axel, to falling in love, to actually being IN LOVE with Axel... I know someone complained that the transition from like to love went too quickly, but the circumstances it happened in made it entirely plausible. And it didn't seem like it was that short of a time frame because SO. MUCH. HAPPENED. I mean just... wow.

I feel like my life has no purpose now. I mean... I've spent the better part of a week reading this (okay, maybe it's more like four days), but just... What do I do now? I suppose I could start reading your other works (because I've never read the prequel), but I feel like I'd need a day or two in between this one and that one. I'm so completely devastated that this is the end of this story, but I'm also very happy that despite everything, they still got a happy ending, even though Axel is still crippled somewhat. But I will say you've inspired me to do better on my own story I'm working on right now.

I can never thank you enough for writing this behemoth, and IN ONLY THREE MONTHS WHAT. I don't know how you did that; could never DREAM of doing something like that. It's amazing. I am astounded at your ability, dear Lauren. You are surely a legend in the AkuRoku world, simply because of this story. To say that this is a favorite of mine is an understatement. I've read so many good stories, but I don't think ANY compare to this one. You've got so much talent, and I can only hope your writing career is going as great as this story seems to hint that it would.

This story is amazing. Its just...wow. I've read this before but it always astounds me each time I read it. You are extremely talented and I'm grateful that you devoted your time and energy to this story its one of my favourites on this site

Aww I'm glad Axel's leg isn't that bad now. Story is cute but it was confusing for a bit. But it all worked out

Is it wrong to say I skipped this chapter until I saw Axel and Roxas in the chapter? I like the story but tired of Cloud's scenes, but you have this one complete already so no use of me saying this XD oh well

The story is great but honestly Roxas brings nothing but trouble to the place. Gosh. I was a bit pissed off cause he can't even fight yet they had him on patrol. Seriously? Sigh. Dont even want to finish this story anymore. Roxas is kinda useless. ..
