|Reviews for Blue Sun Down, a FireflySW Crossover|
| Bondubras of Devoncroix chapter 28 . 1/23
This was a fantastic story. The detailed descriptions that you had allowed me to visualize the scenery, a very difficult feat.
The way you handled having the Firefly 'verse as part of the Star Wars 'verse also made sense.
Overall, this story is among the higher-quality stories I've read.
Looking forward to more.

I was stunned by this quality crossover.

That's no Reaver: It's the Yuuzhan Vong!
Interesting story. I love how you weave together several different parts of the Star Wars Expanded Universe into Firefly. Can't wait to see where this goes, and who else shows up. A certain other Hand, perhaps? Or maybe Talon Karrde? That would be cool.

I just finished this story after a marathon of reading and I have to say I'm sad that it ended, but wow what a ride! This has been one of the most enjoyable crossovers I have ever read. You have somehow seemlessly stitched together the firefly and Star Wars universes into a completely believable tale that I can believe could have happened in either universe. I can not believe that it took me this long to come across this story. I'm now off to check out some of your other works.

Okay, so I was only trolling for Firefly crossovers (and by trolling, I mean looking, not being a troll) when I found this, and I was so excited that it was long and finished that I started it.
And then I got hooked. It wasn't so much the story that hooked me, though that was well-developed, well-reasoned, and well-told. It was the fact that you write well. Your layout and structure are so refreshingly accurate, appropriate, and correct that I was thoroughly engrossed by the end of the first chapter. Kudos to you for turning out such an entertaining story, and doing it with correct English! And thank you, for the entertainment factor, as well.

I think why your not getting many review is that the Jedi comes off as a character that is too true to form in such as a Jedi Master he isn't young and his character is powerful but boring. If it would have been Luke Skywalker everyone knows his story and can identify. Also Mel and the crew are just ordinary people and the Jedi Master is a God. Almost like any crew could have found him and assist.

I really like the story. And I love how you did Mara's back story.
I just find it a shame that you did not let Mara know. Maybe there was a data chip or something...
I mean brothers and sisters? Jedi?

amazing work...you brought it full circle, and made me shed a tear or two-i dont know how you make this stuff, my plots would fall apart at the level of intricacy you utilized for this.
the ending was very bitter-sweet...much like most your other fics, but a good story is a good story! :p

This is a great story, and a completed one too boot. Thanks. Maybe one day I will get a chance to work on one of mine.

Great stuff, I enjoyed it immensely.

Goodness. You do like mashing up your universes, don't you? And wholesale death and destruction. I still find it hard to believe, to grasp, that you just wiped out the entire Firefly 'universe' - thirty billion souls, was it? - in one hit. For the last few chapters I was half disbelieving what I was reading, no, he can't be going to do it, he's not going to wipe them all out is he?
Although, having read some of your other novels I guess I shouldn't be so surprised. The one with the fellow born of Jedi and Sith, I read that story a while ago, I think I recall entire planets/systems being destroyed in that epic of yours too.
I read one of your comments that "it was always about Mara Jade". Hmmm. I like Mara too - I think Zahn's books are brilliant, so much better than practically everything else (that I've ever read) in the Star Wars line - but she really didn't feature that much as 'important' in Star Wars, did she? Mind you, I only got a few books into the Yuuzhan Vong invasion before losing interest (I'd been spoilt by Zahn. :-)).
Anyway, while I don't see Mara as all that significant in her effect on galactic history I do like the character, so seeing her origin and her parents was quite nice. :-)
I was a bit confused by this story; I still don't know where Blue Sun fitted in. The Firefly system was being used as a big experiment by Palantine to create Sith/Force users? River being (just) one of them? Okay. But Blue Sun was an opposing group, I don't see how they figured into it.
Nice to know that River - most of the Firefly crew - had a happy ending. Including Wash. :-)
Thanks for the story!

This is one of the best gorram Firefly fics on the net! This is also miles above everything you've posted on this site. Almost everything about it was amazing. And this piece shocked me in comparison to your other stories. You have a great ability to write. You have pretty killer ideas and concepts for your crossovers. I usually dig most of what you put into your stories until they all change into the same mary-su gary-stu filled light-hearted fluffy wish fulfillment stories... sometimes that can be pretty cool or at least humorous. Most of the time it's annoying and unnecessary for what would otherwise be a really awesome plot, world building, and characters. It's especially upsetting for the characters. Men become pussywhipped, overly chivalrous, sappily romantic, powerful yet naive and insecure fools (like a weird idealization of what a completely subservient husband or boyfriend is supposed to be). Women become the overly clever rulers (either behind the scenes or upfront), who are too powerful, cool, emphatic/sensitive or PC, and overly chic-flic stereotypes of assertive feminity. It's like you don't even want to consider giving them real flaws or diversity of realistic flaws, even the villains are the same in a lot of ways.
But this story, damn it's really good. River starts turning mary-su but you reigned it in enough. The men and women generalization started to make it's presence know too, but you kept the characterizations of the Firefly crew pretty accurate and that helped. Love the fact that there are actual believable emotions, real life (well for science fiction) hard decisions, tragedies, and consequences in this fic. Your merging of both worlds is pretty fluid and ingenious. And you end it well, as a stand alone or set up for a sequel. I wish your HP/SW fics were more like this.

Very good story. On an interesting, nerd note. I actually managed to calculate the approximate percentage of deaths the Yuuzhan Vong War (25-29 ABY) caused. various sources state that the total death toll was 365 trillion sentients, not to mention about 3/4 of the YV warriors, out of the grand total of the galaxy of 100 quadrillion. That leaves you at a total of 2% decrease in population, with entire sectors ending up like the Blue Suns System: dead and nearly impossible to rehabilitate. Hope you liked that little fact! Big fan of both universes, just sucks that one of them had to get iced. Then again the Vong were known for their brutality.

THAT_WAS_AWESOME! Honestly, one of the best done pieces of writing tying dearly loved canons together;D Thank you!;D
