Reviews for The Five Creatures You Meet in Dark Forest |

Guest chapter 21 . 5/8/2021 this was an absolutely amazing read. I read both the Redwall series and The Five People You Meet in Heaven around the same time when I was younger. And now reading this crossover between the two as an adult tugs on all the right heartstrings. Many congrats on a well crafted story! |
InstigateInsanity chapter 21 . 1/24/2011 "The secret of Dark Forest: that each affects the other and the other affects the next, and the world is full of stories, but the stories are all one." One of the most profound quotes I have ever heard. Did you come up with it? |
LadyoftheShield chapter 21 . 11/1/2009 THis was better than I thought it would be. Well done! |
Sabrepaw AKA CrazyPirateMouse chapter 21 . 10/2/2008 OH MY GOSH! This was so good! You are a terrific author! |
katHY Conrad chapter 2 . 8/2/2008 I am so excited that you are writing about Martin the warrior, I can hardly read. Just wanted to say that. Now I will give it an honest read and get back to you! |
Copper Kestrel chapter 21 . 1/25/2008 Really, really great story. Very touching, and sad... *sobs* Martin's emotions are portrayed really weel. The characters he meets also seem in character, and the OOC's seem very realistic. Great story! |
Robina chapter 21 . 1/14/2008 I browsed through the Redwall section, thinking no story here could be as great and captivating as the actual books. You've proved me wrong. This fic could easily have a place in the series. Congraulations. |
Wes chapter 21 . 1/10/2008 I am so very sorry this has to be anonymous. If you had any idea how good this fanfic is, you'd be famous. If there was any writer, living or dead, that could expand on the story of Martin, it would be you. I'm not normally the type to tear up during a movie or novel, let alone a fanfic, but yours did. Several times I had to wipe my eyes to finish reading the piece. Thank you for this. Wes |
nebula212255 chapter 21 . 1/9/2008 Very interesting! I liked this a lot. The last requests, with the rhymes in the tomb and tapestry, was a very nice touch. I liked the choices you made for the five creatures Martin met. |
warrior4 chapter 21 . 1/8/2008 Well worth the wait. I really liked this story. I've only seen the movie version of "The Five People You Meet in Heaven" but this had the same feel to it. I liked your character choices for who Martin met. They all seemed to fit his personality well. Luke, Rose, and Boar (you're welcome) were somewhat obvious choices and those scenes played out well. The OC's Martin met were good too. I liked how you tied them into Martin's later life as a peaceful healer. It's an aspect of his life that a lot of people seem to forget. You did that justice. Only a two small quibbles. First in "Mariel of Redwall" Simon the blind herbalist is led by the Spirit of Martin to his tomb to retrieve his sword to give to Dandin. Also in the book, if you want to call it that, Tribes of Redwall; Mice it says Martin was buried with his sword. At the end of "Mariel" Rufe Brush places it on the weathervane. Maybe a quick edit would be able to help keep your story just that much more canon correct. Second is that in all the visions Martin inspires to Redwall Warriors and others he is always protrayed as a young mouse in armor. At the end when he arrives at his Dark Forest Redwall you have him still an old mouse in his habit. Now I don't know if this means we are left to assume that he can change his apperance when he becomes one of your "Guardians" or if there is something else. But it was just something the stuck out to me. Other than that I thought the story was exellently done. I liked how you brought in the "I-Am That Is" poems too. I had a feeling they would pop up and you didn't dissapoint. All in all very well done. |
