| JovianJeff chapter 7 . 7/22/2010
Pun intended, Masterfully done! Loved the inclusion of the 3rd Doctor with the latest Master. Each was true to their characters so it just wasn't slapping the old Master in with the new Master's character, nor did the Third Doctor suddenly seem like Tenth. It was very well done.
| Kevin Stroik chapter 6 . 9/23/2008
While this story is good, I do have one criticism regarding it. It seems that you're using that nonsense that was given in Series Four as to what U.N.I.T's initials stood for and I find that to be highly offensive. U.N.I.T stands for United Nations Intelligence Taskforce no matter what RTD & the BBC say and the U.N. has no right to be dictating on the content of a television show along with any fanfiction coming from it.
| Nighthowler chapter 5 . 4/13/2008
You've created more than one interesting paradox with this story. I think the one that's intriguing me the most is the fact that here, for this moment only, the Master is being forced by circumstance and said paradox to become the 'hero' he so loathes. He may not like it - as wonderfully illustrated by his running, snarky, commentary - but he can't not do the right thing, to keep his own timeline on track.
A remarkable balancing act, narratively and paradoxically. Thank you!
| Tia'RaHu chapter 5 . 4/10/2008
Hm, this is pretty good. I can't wait to read the next part!
| Nighthowler chapter 4 . 4/7/2008
The action is certainly picking up the pace. Classic Doctor Who with a twist. I'm thoroughly enjoying the Doctor's confusion over this 'new' Master he has to deal with, and his reluctance to explain it all to Jo. The paradox is wickedly convoluted, with both Time Lords walking that fine line between hate/confrontation and cooperation. It's a lovely little conundrum you've created for both.
Keep up the great work!
| Nighthowler chapter 3 . 3/29/2008
Thank you for continuing this! Such a long break between chapters had me worried that your plot bunnies had rebelled and escaped into the vortex. No worries, though! You picked up the thread and ran with it.
That said, your ability to bring the 'old' and 'new' Who into perspective is amazing, especially Saxon/The Master. He's as caught up in circumstances/time as the Doctor, and what he wants and what he has to do to achieve his ends is a conundrum this manic version of the Master completely tied in knots. The balancing act between him and the 3rd Doctor is promising to be a fun exploration of both character dynamics.
Thanks for keeping the Classic Who alive.
| O'Cookmate chapter 2 . 1/31/2008
Well well well. This is a great fan fiction Jed! Jon Pertwee isn't my favorite Doctor for one or two reasons, one of those being lack of fun. But that's just me. I understand though, that a lot of people love him! Anyway, the reason I was drawn to this fic is that you always seem to have interesting ideas... certainly you have a very wide information. I'm glad that you've gone for the more 'traditional' Doctor Who story. After reading your other stuff I've always wanted you to do this... and you do it wonderfully! You capture the character's personalities brilliantly, and you leave me wanting more! Great job!
| Nighthowler chapter 2 . 1/26/2008
Oh, but this is very good. Your depiction of the 3rd Doctor is spot on, his reactions to the soldiers and the situation typically classic. I'm looking forward to how you're going to have this Doctor and the 'current' Master interact. Given the suave, coldly cynical Master as portrayed by Delgado, this more manic/insane incarnation should definitely throw the Doctor for a loop.
| Kendall chapter 1 . 1/19/2008
Oh, lovely, Third Doctor and Jo! They're not my top favorites but I am always happy to see something that is Classic Who. I hope you write more about this team.
| Nighthowler chapter 1 . 1/19/2008
Any time I see a story posted with a 'Classic' Doctor, I pounce, especially the truly older ones. There's not enough 3rd Doctor fics out there, and when I saw this chapter posted, I couldn't resist.
What a lovely use of time travel, and dare we hope a bit of paradox as well? The Doctor and Jo, UNIT, Torchwood 4 - interesting plot bunny there - and the Master. A lot of plot threads that promise a very intersting adventure.
Please, continue! And thanks for giving this old fan a classic hit!
