This was nothing like what I was expecting. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but this certainly wasn't it. Perhaps it was the light-hearted introduction and the off-handed challenge to write a story that you included that threw me off. Regardless, this was a well-written story, if very disquieting by the end. Thanks for sharing.

seems to set up for a sequel at the end, wonder if that's going to happen or if it was leaving loose ends for the readers to wonder and speculate about. personally i think a sequel should come.
