Reviews for Notes on the Run II: Beyond Protoculture |

Stacey chapter 2 . 8/11/2008 This is awesome! I love Rand and always enjoyed the "auto biographies" that Jack McKinney included in all the Robotech novels. I have always wondered what Rand would write in his memoirs concerning what happened after the Robotech war. You have captured his essence in your writing. It is just like him! Please continue! I would love to read all he has to say about everyone else from the SDF3. Great job! |
D.Torres chapter 2 . 2/26/2008 Greetings. I just found your fic and while the chapters are short I find them very entertaining. I just read your notes and I'd like to point out that for the most part the novels were "NEVER" cannon. Largely in-part to the way McKinney altered key facts about protoculture, mecha transformations, weapons, etc. They're old arguments so I won't rehash any further. What HG largely retconned was everything that wasn't in the original 3 series. You don't have to like it, but that is that. Anyways, I look forward to more chapters, keep up the good work. |
JPNice chapter 2 . 2/22/2008 I like the idea behind this story and agree with you opinon of Shadow Cronicals. Just a now however in your discalmer you write: I do now own any characters and references to the series you may want to change this to: I do NOT own... It might save you some trouble. |
anon chapter 1 . 2/17/2008 This is well written. Everyone has pretty much forgotten the novels since the Shadow Chronicles made them 'unofficial'. This ficlet working with them is a great idea. I loved this line: "Heroes in my eyes, to some they are characters from a long-forgotten, half-remembered fable from their childhood". Keep going. |
Warbender chapter 2 . 2/12/2008 Well. As I have never seen the shadow cronicles. I can nake no judgement of this fiction. I would love to say well done. But I have no bassis for doing so. I want to Read/watch the anime/manga before I say something that wouldn't be inline with my reputation as an honest reader reviewer. It read like a journal entry. Not a bad way to go. I do not understand where this is going. (My ignorance of what you are talking about as far as the shadow cronicles are concern) I have all of the books though, and I understand the references you make as far as that is concerned. Update soon please. |
gppr chapter 2 . 2/11/2008 Awesome! I like where you've put the characters here, star. Rand's is a concise recollection (and I like the style, too) but it has *all* it needs, humour included! So, pain of death or divorce... lol. And Scott's sympathies to Rook... hahahaha :D I'm glad they are all happy and surrounded by babies, yes. :D. Tirol as a home and "Marlene's" new role as the children's tutor work perfectly together. Tough to leave friends behind again, but things just seem more natural that way, I feel. I'm SO looking forward to more. Yay! and thanks again. :) |
gppr chapter 1 . 2/11/2008 Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! *G can't contain her happiness* :D I love this. Taking the novels for reference is simply brilliant. I regretted the path the Shadow Chronicles took for Scott, Ariel and the rest of the gang... (well, at least the didn't kill them... make that a "didn't kill them, yet :( ) Using Rand's POV is great. I always liked those snippets from his "notes on the run." His tone was more mature but kept his honesty and you gave Rook and him a second baby! YAY! I can't praise you enough. This is perfect. |
