This line kind of broke me. It's not like I've not thought the same myself, but. It's still sad. I mourn for the person Harry Potter never was. He deserves, if anything, Metamorphosis. That is the very least he should be able to have. Freedom he could never truly have in his Hero husk.

They 100% are not prepared for the full force of "Brian."

As a queer person myself, I am thoroughly intrigued, already appreciate Harry here to no end for what he's doing, and I think Metamorphosis is genius. This is gonna be hecka fun to read, thank you, lovely author! 3

I am a big fan of your writing and have enjoyed every story of yours that I have read, but I have to say that this one has an extra twist of artistry that makes it one of my favorites. I love the way you set up the plot so that you very gradually and subtly revealed just how deeply Harry can fall into his personas, with little dark hints along the way about the tattered psychological remains of the real Harry Potter. The first time you wrote a scene from the perspective of one of the personas (instead of the perspective of Harry consciously playing one), it was an awesome unveiling that felt a lot like the moment in the movie Psycho when the true depths of the caretaker’s delusions are brought to light. I also love the fact that you didn’t try to label Harry’s coping mechanism with a psychological condition like DID, but you also didn’t downplay the seriousness and potential danger of his situation either. Too many fanfics have tried to do the DID-Harry story (a couple are really good, but I couldn’t finish most others), and I think that too much focus on making the condition “realistic” usually ends up destroying a lot of the potential for complexity and creativity that is allowed when magic is introduced to the already complicated workings of the human mind. Your story taps that potential and grey area to create a situation that thrills my imagination, largely because it is somewhat open-ended. In great literature, authors often leave open ends and ambiguity mixed among vivid details, and I think it’s that mixture that leaves readers fascinated by a story instead of just engaged. I don’t see that kind of mixture of vividness and lacunae in fanfiction very often, but you definitely achieve it here.

Anyway, as always, thank you for sharing your writing. You have a distinctive voice that is consistent among all your stories (and I’m such a nerd that I’ve analyzed the grammar to figure out some of what it is that makes it so distinctive, haha), but your story worlds are so different (with a few frequently featured characteristics that I enjoy). Sometimes I worry that I am going to run out of new HP fanfics that are so good that I get completely immersed and can’t quit reading (that’s ultimately what I’m looking for in fanfic—escape from reality, I guess), so it is comforting to know that you have about six hundred (and counting) waiting here. Anyway, I hope you are doing as well as possible during this scary year.
