| Suezanne chapter 1 . 6/21/2014
I got about 15 does the purposeful returning to own dimension count if it's not permanent?
| MegAnimefreakx3 chapter 1 . 2/2/2014
i have a question about names for it ok to mix with the name for more than one oc (like japanese with latin or something) i am was planing on re-naming a few of my oc's (it center of the story is my oc) and pickingout some from other languages (like latin and whatever) If it is ok what languages should i chose ?

I'm a bit lost. So to make a OC character he/she has to be super important or special? I thought OC's where supposed to look and be nothing like the creator. This is purely out of my own confusion cause I have never used an OC before and I don't think readers like characters who are too important. Err. No offence.

This seems less like a test or tool and more like a prolonged thinly veiled hate speech against any kind of self insert.
Self inserts are not inherently Mary-Sues. THEY ARENT. A Mary Sue or Gary Stu is a character who hogs the story. Everything is effortless for them and the do everything while the rest of the cast is reduced to cheerleaders. In short, they are the product of poor story structure and bad writing.
Self inserts can be written well, wether the focus of the story is on them or not.
Multi talented characters can be written well.
OCs who fall in love with canon chars CAN BE WRITTEN WELL.
Heck there can be fanfics based soley around a group of OCS THAT ARE WRITTEN WELL.
Its okay to not like or not read fics where these things happen. But don't act like you have authority to basically tell people that the only way to create a "good" oc is to create a character who ultimately has no impact on the story.

I got 18 points! Yes, Rose is not a Mary Sue! :D This test helped alot, I'll take it before putting new characters into stories! XD Now... I have to try it on my other characters...
| NychusX chapter 1 . 11/6/2012
So just because I'm white/male, I can only write about non-white females? I can't write about a teen/ young adult? That's idiotic, I have never been an adult and wouldn't know how one thinks, if I tried to write about a thirty year old, they would sound like they never grew up. In my opinion, this isn't a Mary Sue/ Gary Stu test, it's a self-insert test. I honestly don't think it's possible to avoid at least a little self-insertion when making an OC. Can you honestly make an OC without putting a little of yourself into it(unless your deliberately making them the opposite of you, in which case it's an anti-you and still a partial self-insert)? Sorry for the rant, but this test just pisses me off.
| NinjaMonkeyGirl2014 chapter 1 . 9/4/2012

This was a big help, thanks :)
| Lee Hikari chapter 1 . 8/15/2012
Could I say something?
The question I want to ask is this, "Does this character have a phobia?"
I think its more realistic if someone has a fear of something; ie. spiders, needles, clowns, small places, ect...
sorry...I was hoping to help...

| WickedThruN'Thru chapter 1 . 12/4/2011
20 points for my OC! :) _ This was really fun and helpful. I'm sure it'll help the constant fight against Mary Sues taking over the KH fandom! :D
