This is, far and away, the best Harry Potter one-shot I've ever read. The chilling similarities to canon show how easily everything could have gone wrong and how losing the First War may not have been preferable to winning it. Fantastic. I entreat upon you to turn this into a full length fanfic or, at the very least, a series of one-shots. But even if you don't, thank you for the best read I've had in a long while.

Very, very nice little story. One of the things this story excels at is tone. You create an ominous backdrop from the beginning, and really run with it. The characters don't really get to do that much, with everything being told from Harry's POV, so descriptions are needed to really bring the horror of the situation home. And they do so quite well in this story.

The writing as a whole is solid, with only a few mild points of confusion, and an overuse of commas. Overall, though, very nicely done in that regard.

The plot is quite nice. It takes the bigotry and prejudice that the "Light" suffers from and ramps it up until we get a scenario that was even worse than what seemed to have occurred while Voldie was in power. However, it still may suffer from taking things to an unrealistic extreme. Even if we were to accept Dumbledore just letting all this happen (and according to the books, the Slytherins were basically his pet project), it just seems unrealistic that this prejudice would spring up and then infect all the school staff, except Hagrid. Who, ironically, is one of the few members that actually shows a distaste for Slytherin. It doesn't even come close to being this bad in the books, so it just feels a bit artificial.

However, getting back to the plot and not my suspension of disbelief- it's quite nice. Cleverly constructed, and the universe is quite nicely built. And that ending? Fantastic. You managed to leave it vague- having the Sorting Hat actually yell out the reveal would have killed the tension, while still making it pretty obvious what happened. Very well done overall.

You should really consider writing this as a novel, not as a One Shot. It would be amazing if you expand this story and tell us what happens if Harry gets into Slytherin.

I would first like to say that I love this story! I would also like to say that you have now made me want to make a story where Harry turns dark and kills everyone in the light because if you really look in th HP books the Light is as worse if not worse than the Dark when it comes to prejudice. thanks again for writing this story!

I had forgotten I read this story a couple of years ago. It had left me feeling hollow and a bit disturbed then. It repeats those feelings now.

I firmly believe in the HP Universe (including JK Rowling's original works) that The Light can be as Dark if not more so than The Dark. This story shows how far it can be shown as such in the extreme.

Good job and I hope others who read this will learn something from it.

This is by far one of the scariest stories I ever read. It really freaked me out and I love horror.

I'm assuming it's supposed to be an ambiguous ending.

I was wondering I could expand on this idea. I wouldn't really take anything from this story per say, but expand on the world being a dystopia after Voldemort's defeat.
