Okay okay nope. A deaf baby is NOT fucked up. Deaf people are not broken and they do not need to be fixed. I think I have to stop reading. There was some previous stuff I was thinking seemed a bit off but this is definitely isn’t right. I think yes having a baby with a disability can be hard to navigate at first because it’s different but that’s why they should have had this baby discussion prior to getting married. And having sex means there is always a chance of a baby even while taking precautions. While they may not want the extra hardships that come with being deaf for their child, they cannot control that and it doesn’t mean a deaf baby is “fucked up”. So disappointed. I think this story had a lot of potential because your writing is great but unfortunately there a few beliefs Tied to this that can be harmful for the deaf community

They never talked about kids before getting married? Mmm that wasn’t too wise. I feel like Bella is about to have her heart broken with this. Can’t imagine yet why Edward doesn’t want this baby

Why would they need a urine sample after she fainted after the news of her husband being in a coma? And why did they test for pregnancy? Usually routine tests don’t include pregnancy at least they never have for me unless you specifically ask for for them to test for HGC levels

Also thank god all Edward’s family came after! Why weren’t they waiting with her for the initial 24 hours of the surgery? Poor Bella!

I know this is a fictional surgery but I’m a bit confused why they would go down such a risky path when cochlear implants do exist and which is a minimally invasive surgery that can be done to implant a small electronic device that helps the person hear electronically. It’s not the same way hearing people can hear but it’s a solution if that’s something a deaf or hard of hearing person wants. I don’t really understand why Edward suddenly seems to want this now, I’m starting to think that as a writer it seems like you’re writing this story under the assumptions deaf people need to be fixed when in reality they aren’t “broken.” I’m hearing so I don’t want to step on any toes but that’s what I’m beginning to see while reading.

Wow a lot happened in this chapter!

I’m not from France but where I live you don’t usually get lap dances in public unless you’re at a strip club haha so that was very bold of them!

I cannot even imagine someone who was supposed to be be my friend say “someone was going to rape me and I was going to like it” that shocked me and in a really bad way. I can’t believe Edward even said that, where did that even come from? Those are some seriously hateful words and you can tell he’s jealous of her going to some other guy’s house but I cannot envision any life long friend say Sisk thing so hateful and violent. I don’t know how I’d even forgive someone after they said something so fundamentally not okay. What Bella said also wasn’t nice in response but the sexual assault comment really shocked me. Just completely out of line.

Also I’m shocked Edward is asking to marry Bella already? Unless I’ve gotten the timeline wrong, they are in their first year of college and have been living together since June which was only a week or two after they confessed their feelings? So now it’s November, so they have been only been together for 6 months?

So sweet of Esme and Carlisle to give them tickets to Paris!

If Bella was that sore Edward was definitely too rough haha

Not that it matters at this point because this story was finished 13 years ago BUT for this story being about Deafness this is written in an extremely Anti Deaf way. So I guess this is my warning to people thinking about reading this story. It is clearly written by someone who has no understanding or respect for the deaf community or how signing works.

Oh this story is cute. Going to see if the sequel has been started
