This was a great story, for the most part. It was nice to see Hiruzen sort things out and do what was needed, if not in the right ways. I did appreciate the decoy village and Hiruzen's successor solution, nice and dark.

But goddamn was that Hinata side-story insufferable, why the fuck would Kumo grab a girl and especially one so young. Women typically only give birth to one child per year and only reliably do so for around 30 years, that's horribly inefficient for a breeding program; and after her son was born Hinata was superfluous. The whole thing, with the exception of Kumo attacking and kidnapping Hyuga, was contrived.

Also can't help but wonder if he felt any remorse over any of hus actions during his dying moments. Killing both of his students, Jiraiya unaware of Tsunade's death, killing Itachis parents, the aftermaths of the Hyuga and Uchiha deserting the village, raising Naruto to be a double S-Rank threat. The hardest choices require the strongest wills as Thanos once put it.

Wow. That was a great read. I love how you delved into the cunning and treacherous psychological aspect of the ninja world, perfectly painting the sheer brutality and corruption seething within it. And of course in such a world the same threats still loom over the hidden village of konoha if not more extreme , Sarutobi Hiruzen had no choice to put on a brave face to pushbuck what je saw as the inevitable. He became an embodiment of the age old "the ends justify the means". Though to what end? He himself knew that the consequences of his actions will "wash itself out in blood soon enough". I wonder what he was thinking whilst taking his final breaths? That the future of Konoha is in good hands or that he left a whole big mess for Naruto clean up? I guess nothing is perfect, the cycle of hatred shall continue even in this world.

This story has genuinely disgusting and disturbing moments in it, the rating should be bumped up to an "M", but apart from that, there is absolutely nothing I can say in it's detriment other than I wish it were longer. It never shies away from what a world like the one depicted in Naruto would actually be like. It is brutal, it is dark, it is gruesome. It succeeds at what so many other fanfics on here have tried and failed to even come close to approaching. 9/10. It would be a 10/10 but I love Hinata and I will not apologise for that. It is a 10/10 if I put my preferences aside. Genuinely a brilliantly written story and I don't think that I could ever write praises high enough. More stories need to take inspiration from this
