| jon reeve chapter 1 . 2/17
“Then again, their whole opinion of the way the world works was basically that of an eleven year old child who has seen the adult Muggle world, but not really understood it, and was trying to recreate it with that less-than-perfect vision.”
“Was it true? Was wizarding society based on a child's attempted recreation of the Muggle world? Was it because, for dozens of generations, children were taken from the Muggle world at the age of eleven that the whole mind-set of the culture was far from enlightened, or even mature?“
/That's 's definitely a lot of material for that theory. To think, Harry wouldn't have even though of it if the Weasleys had more furniture.

And on it goes with the previous pattern, with Hermione and/or Ron stunting Harry in interesting ways.
Honestly, it feels like some God haphazardly gave a bunch of schoolchilrdren magic for a lark and grabbed a beer to watch the fireworks.
Some other entity is probably doing damage control by making them all idiots and creating contrived interruptions whenever someone gets a clue.

Yes, logically the magical world should look a lot different than it does.

This is really funny. Actually, most of your stories are really funny. I'm enjoying them very much.
You know, a bigger problem is that the Wizarding Pureblood society is based off the Medieval model which is more conducive to magic. Muggleborn society, as well as the Ministry are based off the Logic Model, which explains the difficulty in the two sides coexistence. We're taught from childhood that the Middle Ages were Dark and their thought process was wrong and foolish. Actually, it was amazing an intricate. So muggleborns come in looking down on the Medieval model. The purebloods look down on the logic model, and both end up thinking the other is in the wrong.
As the Ministry is part of the logic model, it is, as you noticed, set up by eleven year olds trying to mimic their parents society. Naturally purebloods don't take it seriously - it has no place in their model.

Starts off with Harry ending up with a sore ass as a result of him conjuring instead of tranfiguring a chair, and to think out the problems this leads him to about magic and society he conjures another chair to sit on? Gave me a laugh, thanks for posting.*grin*
