Such a good story! I loved Sam and Dean's talk about being brothers, and Dean's wishes for Sam. Good job!
| bhoney chapter 6 . 6/21/2009
Great final chapter.
I liked that Sammy let Dean have it for not being willing to open up, but always wanting his little brother to spill: “No, Dean. Being brothers is a two-way street, okay. You don’t get to be all strong and macho, and then expect me to come whining to you when I’m hurting!”
This broke my heart for Dean. I think he really did feel this way: “I don’t want you to have to grow up as quickly as I had to. I want you to just enjoy being a kid. I never got to do that, Sam. When mom died… my childhood was basically yanked out from under my feet. I mean, don’t get me wrong, dad did his best - under the circumstances - but he just couldn’t handle raising us and hunting the thing that killed her, at the same time. So, that responsibility fell to me. And, I don't regret it, Sammy. I don't. It's just...”
LOVED this: "“I love you too, bro,” Sam said, reading his brother like one of his library books." Great analogy, and I loved that Sam knew his brother so well, and wasn't afraid to say what Dean couldn't express.
This was my favorite part: “I was so scared, Dean. All I could think of was, what would Dean do? I wanted to be brave like you. I wanted to be smart like you. You‘re my hero, Dean.” Dean’s eyebrows raised higher and higher with each of his brother’s confessions. “So, if you don’t want me to be like you, that’s just too bad… because that’s all I wanna be!” Aw...*sniffle*
And I loved Dean holding on to Sam and refusing to let go, just holding him until he was okay. That seems to be a recurring theme from the last story and this one, where John did it with Dean a couple of times, and Dean did it with Sam a couple. I love that.
This was a fantastic story. Suspenseful, in-character, great family moments, really moving emotion. Just wonderful. I'm favoriting it. Great job!

Aw, great chapter! I loved it. Loved Sam saving Dean, and it was a great twist that Sam was so upset not just because he'd killed a human, but because he thought Dean was really dead. Loved the image of Dean cradling Sam at the end, holding him and making him listen to his heartbeat. SO sweet.
| bhoney chapter 4 . 6/3/2009
Holy crap! See, that right there *points to evil cliffie* that's why I only read completed fic. Otherwise, I'd have an ulcer by now! ;)
I LOVED John saying this: “No. No, it’s not, Dean. You are so ready to save us… to sacrifice for us. Sometimes you’re the one who needs to be taken care of. And, I’m sorry if I made you think otherwise. I just got so caught up in this fight, I didn’t notice how much you boys needed me.” And I love him being all protective of Dean when Shaun comes. But, oh man-boiling water to the face? That's very, very bad.
I'm glad Sammy's on his way, since his brother's being killed and he's the only one who can stop it. Hope he's not delayed by feeling choked himself.
I have to say, it is one of my VERY FAVORITE plot devices EVER to have characters connected in such a way that they can feel one another's pain/emotions/etc. I LOVE that you have it in here.
| bhoney chapter 3 . 6/3/2009
I LOVE hypothermia fics. They're my favorite. This is shaping up to be a great one!
It was really intense, Dean going through the ice, John trying to save him. And while I can see where you'd be concerned about the last scene (I worry about stuff like that, too) it came off just as it should-a father trying to save his son's life. A really wonderful, fatherly moment for John.
But Sammy...I knew that guy was lying about Bobby sending him. And I think Sam knows it too. Hope Bobby gets to them in time. I don't know what that guy's got up to, but it can't be good...
| bhoney chapter 2 . 5/28/2009
Holy crap! Someone SAVE DEAN!
I loved the banter and interaction between Dean and John in this chapter. Especially John's incredulity at Dean constantly telling him to leave him behind. But it's so like Dean to do that, worried about Sam being alone at the cabin. Speaking of which...he should've known better than to open the door without looking out first!
| bhoney chapter 1 . 5/28/2009
Loved this description: "the babbling brook called Sam"
And I loved that Bobby knew just what Sam was thinking here: "Sam glanced at the door, wondering if maybe he should go out and begin searching for his father and brother on his own. “Don’t even think about goin’ out in that blizzard before I get there, Sam,” Bobby chastised him, as if reading the boy’s mind." Glad he's on his way to help out.
Cool hunt, too! But now Dean's hurt-that can't be good. Hope Bobby gets there to help out quickly!

| annv chapter 6 . 11/15/2008
I loved this story the part where John tells Dean its alright to need help and where Dean does a chickflick moment were great I think you got them just right
| FraFra chapter 6 . 8/20/2008
Sorry I haven't reviewed since chapter 3, I just came back from a 2 weeks holiday and I read the last three chapter one after another!
What I liked most is how you manage to mix moments full of breath-taking action and scenes full of feelings and emotions.
My absolute favourite parts were probably the ones between John and Dean, in chapter 4; their relationship is really complex, but you represent it in a very realistic way.
Of course I loved the interaction between the brothers in the last 2 chapters, too; they were totally touching and intense.
The sort-of-epilogue was great and I loved the end!
Thanks for entertaining us with such a wonderful story!

Nicely brought home! Great ending chick-flick moment and all!lol! I'm so envious at how quickly you got this up! Loved the bro-moments, especially Dean not wanting Sam to have to be like him - I think that rings very true...

| sam spade-fitzgerald chapter 6 . 8/11/2008
yay for the most amazing chapter yet, but i am also very sad, because now i don't have any thing to look forward to reading every day. this was an amazing wonderful, awesome, sweet, cute, fun and all around cool story to read. i enjoyed every chapter, even, yes, the heart stopping cliff hangers, but that's okay, i don't mind! just glad that you didn't leave me hanging for a couple of weeks!
p.s. i am very glad that you didn't mind my death threats and suicide threats, cause i really enjoyed this story! so, i hope that you will write some more soon, cuz if you don't... i've been needing an excuse to pull out my knife drawer and sharpen them... insert:evil cackle:insert ... but, hey, you get the point! SIT DOWN RIGHT NOW, AND START WRITING ... OR ELSE!
Thanks for the story!
| irishgirl9 chapter 6 . 8/11/2008
Great job with that story! I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. When Shaun showed up, I was suspicious. Especially when he acted like he knew Bobby only after Sam mentioned the man's name. Poor Sam, having to go through that. I'm glad that he was able to get free and showed up at the cabin in the nick of time. Thank goodness John knew how to treat hypothermia. Even if Dean felt it was showing weakness, which it wans't, its good that John did everything that he did. Thank God, Dean didn't give up and was able to get through to Sam.
Just to let you know, this story is not marked complete.
