Reviews for The Harlequin |
---|
![]() ![]() ![]() I am rereading this and will say one more time that this seriously could have been an actual sequel to "the dark knight". this and the sequel you wrote of this story. Marvelous job. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I genuinely enjoyed this story. It took up way more time than I should have let it, but I found myself reading even when I should have been working on something else. I also thought the characterization was interesting. I don't actually agree with it, but you did such a good job with it that I have nothing real to say against it. I especially enjoyed that Harley was her own force to be reckoned with and I enjoyed the Harley and Ivy section. However, there were some things that did bother me. First, I felt like the entire Canary bit was fairly awful. It felt forced, awkward, and out of character. Moreover, it was superfluous, detracting from the narrative needlessly. A better route would have been for her to turn witness, bargain for immunity, and then peace out. This may be setup for a future story, but it is definitely the weakest part of this story. Second,...um, how to put this delicately. A little bit of smut can be amazing. It can bring the reader into a more engrossed state, especially during scenes of high emotions. This, though, was too much. Taking a good on its own merits story and letting it devolve into porn is just... not great. And it was like every other paragraph for awhile there. There is something to be said for stopping at closing the bedroom door. still, that said, I greatly enjoyed this story and am moving on to read others. |
![]() ![]() ![]() So many emotions. Also amazing work in breaking up this monster of a fic into different parts. Like talk about a turning point in a character arc. Also such good Joker characterizations. This fic toes the line between giving us a romance story we all want and actual sociopaths in the best way. This fic is so addictive. And of course RIP Bruno. |
![]() ![]() ![]() So many emotions with this chapter oh my gosh. Harley is kidnapped! Stakes just keep raising so much tension building but I'm living for this fic. We finally get to see inside the Joker's head and it is put so wonderfully. A fluffy sappy Joker just feels wrong. This fic captures a romance fic of these characters perfectly. |
![]() ![]() ![]() This story is getting so addictive. The tension just keeps building. Now another character is added and the story continues to shine. Sometimes in fics too many characters make the plot too confusing. This is perfect. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Gah this is just the best fic. Harley struggling with her emotions. Joker being so mysterious. Victor being creepy as hell. So much depth is given to these characters. Harley trying to figure out where she fits in the world while also wanting to just let go and be in the moment. Also loving the mystery of what exactly is the Joker planning in the background. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Gosh this chapter had so many feels. Itd wonderfully balanced between angst and fluff. I am loving how the Joker is being written. He isn't delusional but definitely got some psych issues going on. As much as I love reading the world through Harley's warped point of view; I can't wait to have some other POV pop up. What does Bruno think of Harley suddenly being around? What's happening in the Penguin's head? So many wonderful characters in this fic. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Sometimes fics have gratuitous smut just because they want to be smutty. It doesn't make any sense to the plot but suddenly smut. This fic has smut with a purpose. The readers get a real sense of the internal struggle going on inside of Harley. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Harley girl is just so full of all these emotions and not wanting to process any of them. Loving how you are writing her for this fic. Also shout out for realistic injuries. You've had multiple car accidents and people didn't walk away from them miraculously uninjured. The little extra realism really goes a long way in making this fic so enjoyable. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I just love this morally grey Harley. Did she really want to make friends with strippers? The complimenting Roxy's act when she didn't pay attention to it. These little details make such good characterization. Also Harley fighting with herself between over thinking and just existing in the moment. I am living for this fic. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Omg that fluff at the end is so precious. They get to cuddle. They did have such a rough day. Love seeing Joker and Harley spend so much time interacting with each other. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I love that Harley is determined to still be her own person. This has one of the best iterations of Harley ever. Also so many little details that just add that extra bit to push this story from good to amazing. It truly has it all. |
![]() ![]() ![]() The action scenes are very well put together. In some stories you have no real scene of where people are in the scene and their position to other characters. You manage to get the perfect balance of informing the audience without hitting them over the head with too much detail. Also loving the banter going on between Joker and Harley. Have a feeling not many people have treated to Joker in a way that isn't contempt or fear. As Harley has said, in her mind he is just a man, a very fascinating man. |
![]() ![]() ![]() For being a Joker/Harley fic, the batman in this is very well written. Some people write batman so cardboard like that it's such a drag when he shows up. The different POV don't take away from the fic and actually really add to it. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Absolutely loving this morally gray version of Harley. The foreshadowing of being complicit in shady drug testing was a great way to transition to Harley not really caring that she killed someone. |
