This story will always be one pf my favorites!

Bravo! Re-read it today and I'm certain it's my favorite story where James Potter lived. Most stories with that premise depict James as a despondent, neglectful father who falls into a stupor after surviving Voldemort. While that is always a likelihood for someone who undergoes a traumatic loss in their life, a story of ruthless vengeance makes for better storytelling.

This was a good read.

There is ambiguity in three areas:

First James's account contradicts itself. It's unclear whether Lily gave her life to kill Voldemort or she was killed and her dying moment activated a magical anomalous magical protection over Harry that ultimately protected him like in the original books. It's either one or the other, it can't be both. So as far as we know, it's also possible it was actually neither of those things and James lied to Sirius in some way about what really happened.

The second is the withering curse in Wormtail's hand. No mention was made of the cursed ring, so we don't know if it was involved in some way or if it was just an accident that happens to mirror what would have happened had Peter put on the ring.

Thirdly, no explanation for how the word got out that the dark lord was dead and how it died. Just that Dumbledore didn't understand that at that moment.

Lastly, just noting they left Beatrix alive but petrified on the door of her old vault. Like Han Solo.

Kinda creepy.

Finally! ٫ Merouders worthy of their nickname and not the ones that are famous for making stupid “jokes”... :D

This needs a part 2 about how James and his friends tell harry about what they know of the first war, harry following James in his footsteps, and James finding love (male love but him as bottom), Sirius and Remus finding love or getting togething. The trio finding how to become immortal along with harry and there new found friends and family, of course the trio and harry maybe having powers and going back to there homeland with harry going to Hogwarts. Note: harry was 6-10 when they told him, this is only an idea for part 2 if you're making one, is this a good idea? Don't Force yourself

A classic. And something we were sorely missing in the original canon: competent. fucking. adults.

If a prophecy hadn't come into play, Voldemort would've gone from [starting war] to [ruling magic sewer country] in what, less than 3 years?

This is the ONLY Dark Marauder story that ever worked. The rest are just full of straw man bashing and not even remotely like them. Yours is just pure gold. If you ever go back to this universe, your Dark Harry and his 3 and a half fathers would be interesting. Wonder if Sirus would find ways to enhance his powers that his brother had hidden from old Noseless?

Six or seven years after my first read, this is my fourth. Very entertaining and well written, always a delight!

This reads like a story from another, darker, less civilised era. But that's what JKR's wizarding folk are essentially living in, looking at the tone of the last three or four books. Where the law is bent seven ways from Sunday, it is not surprising that people take it in their own hands. Since apparently too little and probably nothing at all had been done to temper the admittedly ruthless, cruel, dark, vengeful ways of the Marauders, their reactions and subsequent actions could well have been as this story describes - perhaps even without James. They have been driven over the edge and have ventured into the realm of evil, no doubt about that. Would they see it that way themselves? No. Not with their emotions being all over the place. War (and war is what they were waging) is dirty, it is rare anybody comes out of it with clean hands. Who knows what might become of this Harry, of the Marauders, of Hagrid ... perhaps it is just as well that the story stops where it does.
