I am not an avid reader of LOTR fanfiction but I do recall reader a story years ago about the friendship between Legolas and Gimli and the gift of a tree that grew until it could live no more but I did not remember the name of said story or the name of who wrote it. It is a story that remained close to my heart through out the years and it is quite by chance that I stumbled upon it this morning. I read the first two lines and suddenly I knew I had just found THAT story again and took great pleasure (and sorrow) in reading it anew. Thank you for sharing it with the world and may it outlast our poor rowan tree.

Gimili and Legolas are probably the best view points to take when explaining the aftermath, seeing as one of them’s immortal and the other’s a slow aging dwarf. So sad. Gimli is a character much of the fandom underappreciates, but I love the friendship between him and Legolas. This story here is poignant, and almost brings me to tears.
