Aching Bones chapter 3 . 10/23/2008
Hi there,

Oh but this was a very sad, lonely and poignant chapter...

It was awful how she constantly went hungry...

'She ignored her stomach when it started growling, and the lump in her throat when it started closing, and focused again on her studies'...

She was not only suppressing her physical hunger but her emotional one too...

At least they did not hit her, like the last family...but to think that she had another six months of this was horrifying...

'the way everything fit into each other, each thing in its place. Unlike her. She concentrated, naming each bone and connecting tendon or ligament aloud, and the recitation so caught her attention that she forgot she was hungry'...

Her facination with Bones from such an early age...but even at that stage too the feeling of not fitting in anywhere...I want to cry...I want to be able to go back and foster her myself...

'She quenched her hungers with brain food. It became a habit, and the sheer fact of studying came, over time, to be an automatic appetite suppressant.'...

It is funny now, her work has taken over from that...anything that totally has her concentration has the power to do it...she eats like a bird and but for Booth would miss 'most' of her meals...it's hard to break a habit!

It was only when she couldn't think that she was hungry or lonely. She made it a habit to think.'

Oh gosh but this whole piece was beautiful...you are good at these little one pieces, good at conveying the emotions and the sadness too...

Looking forward to more...

I loved that insight into the beginning of their friendship. It actually made me think of Casablanca and not just because the last line was practically a quote, but just the image of two people who are so different walking off together somehow knowing they've found a real friend.

Great job!

I love the idea that his dreams are becoming progressively less sexual and more domestic in nature. Speaking into the kind of relationship that he really wants with her.

Very sweet, but poor Booth.

Hi there,

Love this from Angela's pov while Bones and her were at college...

'Angela handled everything but her art directly'...

Love how Angela had been studying her for quite some time...love how she noticed her eyes...

'They were clear, and piercing, and it was impossible to tell what she was thinking. Eyes are the windows to a person's soul? Not this girl. She was shuttered.'...

She got that one right...this was an early Temperance Brennan but still the same...all the damage had been caused at this stage...

'Temperance? that was a long name, Angela thought. Brennan was better, but Bren was best, nice and short. The girl looked up at her, curious and something else. Guarded? As if she wasn't sure Angela was serious? She cocked her head to the side.'...

Love how Brennan could understand Angela's art...

'The girl nodded, flipping through the pages with interest and that watching look in her eyes. "These are very good, very realistic. I imagine that the abstraction can only come into play once you've captured all the details- you can only decide what's not important after that'...

Love how Angela was totally bowled over with that reply...no one else had ever got that, not even her teacher...

'That's it, exactly.'...

'It was unsettling to be on the opposite end of that gaze, but at the same time, it was magnetic. She nodded, and began to gather her things. "I'm not really hungry, but I'll join you for a coffee'

Some things will just never change...

'Each nodded, deciding. This would be interesting. Together, they turned and walked off the quad'...

We could be friends, we will be friends...

'It was the beginning of a beautiful friendship'...

I loved it,

Ger

Hi there,

Oh gosh but I love the idea of this latest one from you...and I loved this chapter...

He loved the first kiss of the morning...he had finally got what he wanted! Talk about 'domestic bliss'...He showered first while she made coffee...the best coffee...and then she offered him pie and ice-cream for breakfact...he loved her pie, she made the nicest and best ever...

But he had forgotton to turn off his alarm...

Ah ah!...Oh NO...it was all a dream...

'Goddamnit," he said to himself. "You've got it bad, Seeley boy, when you stop dreaming about getting it on with her, and start dreaming she's making you pie.'...

This was wonderful and very clever and I loved it...
