|Reviews for Spirit|
| Marvin Fletcher chapter 1 . 12/23/2013
As Christmas is fast approaching, it seemed only fitting to read a seasonal fic to try and capture some of that Christmas spirit. And where better to start than "Spirit"! I must admit, I'm kind of with Nick on this one; once you reach adulthood, the magic of Christmas does tend to pass you by unless you have children and/or a special someone in your life. However, unlike him, I am actually attempting to get in the festive mood. If only I had a Greg to help me...
There's just something about the opening scene of this fic, with Nick and Catherine in the lab, that makes it stand out for me. It's so realistic in the way that the dialogue is quite minimal and almost one-sided, yet it's enough. You manage to convey the non-verbal part of the conversation without getting bogged down in endless descriptions. I really like that about your writing. And I have to say, I think the term "vigorous ire" is vastly under-used. As is "fun sucker"! And the word "plinks" is wonderful. I am determined to use it at some point tomorrow.
Oh, dear Greg, with his fairy lights and glittery balls... How could anyone resist such a combination?! Add to that the mouth-watering mince pies crafted by that flame-haired temptress from the deli and Nick never really stood a chance, did he?! ;) Greg leaving Christmas dinner left-overs on his doorstep was just the icing on the cake. It's just a shame Nick needed a little persuasion to appreciate the gesture.
I always enjoy seeing Jacqui in your fics. She's a great character and I love how she gets straight to the point with Nick when he rings her. Consider yourself told Stokes! Good old Nick redeems himself in the end though. I'm curious, in the scene where Nick goes to Greg's apartment, is the sweater Greg is wearing supposed to be Bob from "Resistance"? Because in my head it is. And I love it!
Well, I am feeling a little more festive after reading this, so thank you! I've just got one more day at work to contend with before I can relax and enjoy it all. I must also confess that I've never seen "It's a Wonderful Life", so perhaps this is the year to put that right. Thank you once again for sharing this and I wish you a very merry Christmas! :) x

Well this was absolutely sweet. I've read it during the right season, too! That adds something...thanks for sharing! (Grissom eating candy cane is an amazing vision...lol!)
| Impure Desire chapter 1 . 11/2/2010
Aw. Nick takes Catherine's shift then she goes and spreads around that he hates Christmas! Way to treat someone who just gave you the chance to spend the holidays with your daughter. Lol. But I guess it gave Greg the opportunity to intervene with his "mission" to make Nick like Christmas. Nick's nightmare in the beginning was hilarious, by the way. This is definitely a story that I know I can and will read and re-read to cheer myself up. "Fun sucker. Did I say that right?" Hahaha! How do you say that wrong?
On the show Greg's the comic relief -at least, he was in the earlier seasons- and I really like his personality. That's why he's my favorite on the show. I know he can be serious, but I'm glad you kept the essence that is Greg Sanders. Iron Maiden Christmas decorating music and all. ]
The pace of the story was perfect. We see Nick's character gradually grow, and that was really good. Even Greg's random outburst about balls still fit because that's part of his character. Everything flowed really well.
I can see Greg taking Nick to work just to annoy him with Christmas carols, but I'm with Nick on that. After working in a retail store and hearing them on repeat, carols loose their appeal. Lol. Though I'm sure it's not the carols Nick will be remembering from this Christmas.
On another note, I have started to read your HP stuff, starting with Too Darn Hot. I'll go into specifics on each story's respective review, but I'm definitely liking it.
Congrats on getting two new rats! I'm sure little Gregory Hojem Sanders will be well loved. Both of them will. :D I have a dog named after Remus Lupin. Lol. It also fit 'cause he only had one other brother in the kennel that I would have named Romulus if I had got him too.
I probably am too harsh on myself, but my cousin is the only one I know that ships N/G. I'm still waiting to hear back from her if she'll look over my stuff. Let's hope! I do like to write, though, so I'm not giving up! In case my cousin doesn't have time, how would I go about getting a beta on FF? I've never used that feature before. XD
Anyway, this is actually the second time I had to type this up because I forgot to sign into FF and also forgot to copy everything I had typed before signing it. Oh well. Haha. You can expect more reviews from me in the near future. :D

Shall I squeal yet or not?
I think I shall!
Dude! Dude! Double Dude!
I started this story 2 days ago because I had very limited time to read it, but I finished it today and I LOVED IT!
Can I say how awesome of a writer you are?
The phone call between Nick and Jacqui was awesome! The whole '“You’re an idiot,” she snaps. “It’s Christmas day. He could have been doing anything, and yet what he wanted to do was steal my leftovers and make sure you had some dinner. I’m sure he had other offers, too,” Jacqui points out, before lapsing into stony silence.' made me smile. Take that kick in the ass, Nick!
You made me regain my holiday spirit! I LOVE YA! :)
Keep it up, you hear?
Or I'll call Santa! :D

Oh amazingness that is this wonderful story! Just perfect. Everything you write turns to silver... or gold, if that's more your thing. *leaves miles of Nick and Greg kissing shaped Christmas lights for you to hang everywhere you like!*
