Did a reread and it is still an interesting idea, but definitely has a grim and bitter mood.
You didn't get into how Harry was denied his family's legacy. Will they be able to get it hen they have magical children? Since he wasn't BORN a squib, shouldn't he have ben able to have it? After all, the Goblins don't always follow what the Ministry says.
I guess if Harry had a Horcrux, it died when he was squibbed. Did Dumbles find the others?
When Harry has nothing to do with the Magical world, I always feel sorry for Luna and Neville. They blossomed with Harry's friendship.
In canon, Hermione would have been mind wiped, but I like that she wasn't.
I would think that since Dumbles KNEW that Voldie wasn't dead, he would have at least kept tabs on Harry and when he was a tad older tell him of the prophecy and encourage him to train in weaponry, for his safety sake. Imagine sniper Harry zeroing in on his target...
Also sad you denied Harry the benefit of the love of a godfather and uncle in Sirius and Remus.

Disappointed that you made Sirius, and probably Remus, idiots who forgot the love they had for the child Harry.

Meh great concept horrid execution and not even 50% developed.

Author did no research into the average age of a judge, even a small local one. Harry and Hermione would have to be at least 30 years old. Harry would have graduated secondary in 98 at age 17.5, gone to Uni and been there for 4 years before another year for his masters. Then who knows how many years as either a lawyer or other legal type aid. Plus his internship to pass the bar.

During all of that you have Voldemort around since Harry was 11...then Hermione who would have been mind wiped when she dropped out. In this case she isn't but doesn't bother reading her books or learning anything on the side.

Just not worth finishing.

This is a story that I re-read every now and then as I really enjoy it. Harry’s and Hermione’s resilience here is totally admirable, as is the non-magical government’s no nonsense approach towards magicals. Thanks again for writing and sharing this wonderful short story.

You skipped way too far. 13 years and nothing from Voldebitch? That's completely unrealistic. He would have taken over first year when he got the stone or second year after he killed Ginny or third year when the rat found him or fourth year when Harry's name came out of the goblet or fifth year when...
Also, Hermione would have her magic bound and memory erased. Standard procedure. She would study on her own, otherwise. As soon as she was 17, she would legally be an adult and could do magic. You skipped all of that.
You also didn't give Hermione revenge on the asshole. Either of them. I hate it when authors ignore evil and never do anything about it. What a waste of time.

Not a bad story. I was kinda hoping they would all die but whatever.
