God, I feel like crying now. This is so beautifully written...
| ccase13 chapter 1 . 10/5/2011
Poor Sam, he worries so much more than Dean about the intangible things.
| xcloudx chapter 1 . 10/3/2011
Wow, I know jack sqwat about the bible but man this was sooo convincing (I feel like I learned something)and makes me want to pick one up. I really love how you wrote this and how Sam was so daring and fed up. Everything - ugh I havent read something like this yet, I mean with the religious aspect of it. Thank, this is really brilliant and Im definitely going to read it again!

Beautiful piece, my dear.
| brodie-wan chapter 1 . 1/20/2011
This was a brilliantly written fic about faith; the faith of angels and the faith of man. I've always enjoyed that Sam believed in God.
I think you displayed Sam's conflict very well.
Castiel was well played as well. Loved his reference of the scripture from Luke. Though Castiel was not made to minister, he did an awesomely intimate job.
One quandry: why was Dean only named in dialogue? In all exposition he is limited to 'he'. It was a little awkward given that Sam and Castiel were name in the exposition as well.
Very well done. I look forward to more.

What an enjoyable read! Well thought out arguments about what a human and an angel's perspective would be. I have a soft spot for the non-human acting Castiel, BAMF for the lord, Castiel. He was spot-on in this.

I've read this story so many times and each time it makes me cry. You have a true talent!
| Nath2704 chapter 1 . 7/27/2010
I was gonna start reading "The nature of angels" but I thought it would be better to give a look to this one first.
I like it, good depiction of Sam's confusion about God and his own fate. And Castiel accepting his lack of comprehension of God, even being an angel, also work pretty well.
I wanna find out what Dean is gonna say him.
| TeamDean79 chapter 1 . 7/13/2010
I think that just might be one of the very best fanfiction stories I've ever read. Castiel is so...intense. And knowing, and earnest, and so many other things that only angels on the show Supernatural seem to possess.
Good to know Sam can be saved. Although, really, I never doubted it. Sam's a good person; he just got shoved in the wrong direction.
Well, you have phenomenal writing, to say the very, very least. Please, please write more. I'll be looking forward to it.
| anka-x chapter 1 . 1/1/2010
I always appreciated Sam's innocence, especially on the first three chapters. Sometimes, I believe, the main reason for his downfall has been his thrustworthy and honest to God, good nature. He belives and thrusts others too easly. To me, Sam sees the good side to every creation. That was why he could difrentiate between vampire and human killing evil vampire. He had the ablity to see the goodness in everyone. Which makes him vulnerable. I believe, the problems with angels have hurt Sam's faith in God. It certainly shattered his faith in angels, that is for sure. As a person who values the inherent value of Sam's soul, I really would like the producers to question the damage that was done to Sam's , I don't except anything form the dumb ones who actually shattered Sam's character themselves and wrote him out of character and made him into a stupid mass as of season five. Ofcourse fans, are always more faithful to their loved characters than any tv writers can ever be. And fans are more thoughtful of said character's emotional needs. Overall, thank you for this fic.
| Not Applicable chapter 1 . 9/16/2009
That was amazing!
I always thought the show could have dealt a little bit more with Sam's faith, but they never did. So thank you for going out there and doing something about it.
This was very well written and the verses you chose are great. They are less-known than the standard John 3:16, but they really bring out situation Sam's in. And yeah, I'm a Sam girl at heart.
Congratulations on a job well done!

So it's late, and I'm messing around reading fanfic and I find this gem. As a full-fledged Sam fan I love it. Because while I loved Season 4, it broke my heart for the Ginormotron, and it annoyed me that Sam, who showed a lot of faith throughout the show's run, got only cold shoulders from the angels, which I think helped push him further into Ruby's manipulations, eroding his faith. And it was nice to see a hopeful fic with Sam and Castiel, especially since Castiel was one of the more interesting characters in S4. Great job, and this story is going into my favorites. :)

AH! More..More..please hurry up!
| Paige M. Carter chapter 1 . 3/2/2009
This story was fantastic! Love Sam taking it to the angels with the Bible.
| Triskelion chapter 1 . 2/4/2009
This story is made of more awesome than words can express.
Still, I'll give the 'words' thing a shot. Fantastic idea for time and content of a conversation. Characterizations are spot-on. This is very much a SAM conversation, but the way it's written from Dean's viewpoint, and his little interjections into the chat, are brilliant. And I only wish something like this had happened.
Amazing expression of Sam's doubts and fears, and the way they unfold from his succesful attempt to piss off Uriel to his admission that he's afraid of losing his faith, that he thinks he's going to hell, to him saying that he never stopped praying, and when Dean came back, then "like...like God and faith, everything, it all made sense" - and then his ultimatum. And the whole discussion about John 15:13, and - oh, and all of it! It sounds like Sam, and it's so SAD!
I think this might be the best Castiel I've ever seen: the scary, the commanding, the earnest, the fairness, the woolgathering, the bemusement, the inscrutability, the ... well, the *righteousness*, as evinced by things like pointing out that suicide is a sin, that power held no temptation for him, that the word of God could not be doubted. And he tries, in spite of all the dispassion and distance, and his being a little bit baffled by all of it, to be kind, to make Sam understand. And cares. And talks about PRAYING SAM WILL BE SAVED and PRIDE and SPARROWS, and takes Sam's hand again, and ...
And I don't know which one is my favorite line, but I think it's this one:
“It would be a tragedy if you lost the faith that Azazel and Lilith could not destroy,” he said, “because you sought guidance from those with little ability to give it."
Or this one: The angel looked down as if he hadn’t learned the response to those words yet. “I’ll pray for you, Sam Winchester,” he promised again. “And if I must strike you down, I’ll pray for you even as I deliver the blow."
Specifics that I loved included Sam pointing out that "mud-monkeys" are made in God's image, Dean's sympathy for Ruby, Dean having to warn Sam not to taunt the psycho angel OR the sane angel, Dean wondering if Castiel might not be the brightest bulb in heaven (and the "nine kinds of menace"), Dean thinking "Jig's up", and being grumpy that they're speaking Bible instead of English, and Castiel not understanding Dean's signal to leave, and Sam thinking for an instant that the only reason heaven would regret his fall would be the loss of a chess-piece. And Dean confusing sparrows and swallows - that just made me laugh.
So. Brilliant. I love this story.
It is MADE OF AWESOME.
