I loved this whole story. You write really well. You even kept it within the movie's story line. Thanks for writing a Lin/Rathbone story.

| ToryTigress92 chapter 37 . 12/19/2009
Oh come on, you cannot leave it there! You torturing (some rude insult in chinese)
Anyway love how you interweaved your own plot into the movie, it even made some events in the movie make more sense, particularly when Lin comes riding up in the cart after the incident at Rathbone's estate. I mean, why didn't she just find Roy and Chon again? Your version actually made sense at least!
Loved it, although this doesn't need to be a M rating. Trust me it is not nearly explicit enough to warrant an M rating, but I still loved it! All those moments with Rathbone and Lin were so sweet!
Thank you got such a great story and I look forward to the sequel. I hope my own attempt at a Rathbone story is half as good as yours, especially as you gave me the inspiration to start writing it, after I read this.
Looking forward to the sequel when it comes out!
| C.M Cruz chapter 37 . 12/11/2009
The best fanfiction for Shanghai Noon/Knight. I have been looking for GOOD well thought out fanfics about Rathbone for some time, and was just about to give up till this beauty popped up! I enjoyed it from the first to the last chapter, although it has me wanting more now.
The way you weaved the movie and your own story is very good! Excellent even! At times I wouldn't know how Lin would get into something in the movie, than you show it in your fic and it suddenly becomes clear to me.
This was very good and I hope to read more of your fanfiction. Keep up the good work!

I recently watched this film again and was struck by what a fantastic character Rathbone is. So, I of course went to fan fiction and was shocked to see that yours was the only story with him in it!
My disappointment was soon mended, however. You, my friend, are an incredible writer. There were no errors (as is so frustrating to see while reading) and you captured each of the characters perfectly.
I love how you wrapped your own sub-storyline in with the original so well. Yours is a wonderful storyline as well. So, I must say, I heartily enjoyed it and wish there was more out there for such a brilliant bad guy.
| J chapter 37 . 2/17/2009
I must add that I was obsessively checking the site everyday for updates. And, as I'm watching the movie again, I'm noticing little things that I read in your story (awesome details by the way) - like the wax figure of Lord Rathbone in Madame Tussauds' wax museum - that I probably wouldn't have noticed otherwise. My favorite scenes have to be the scene with Rathbone and Lin in the attic and the scene Rathbone hands Lin his pistol and gives her the opportunity to exact her revenge. Pure awesomeness! Great dialogue, characterization, and attention to plot. I'm really hoping for a sequel...he must find Lin! :) (I'm just waiting for *the* moment they reunite and kiss after the whole fiasco. Watching the scene with the grandiose music where Lin kisses Roy, I was thinking "that should be Rathbone!") I’m watching the film in a different light now - I keep thinking of this story and how the film could be so much better. ;)

I knew you couldn't just kill the man! I love this story, V.! It's great. You wrapped it up very nicely. It was such a wonderful way of telling a familiar movie and turning it around. It was great from beginning to end and really made you look at the characters differently. V.C., you are very talented and I hope you write some more. :D
| J chapter 37 . 2/17/2009
This was such a great story - it fit perfectly with the movie and even filled in the plot in places where the film was lacking. Will there be a continuation... *hopeful* :)...?
| Auburn Red chapter 30 . 2/16/2009
"And the Grinch's heart grew three times that day". :D
Such sweet and delightful scenes between Rathbone and Charlie. Nice contrast in that he treats Charlie like a miniature adult, whereas Roy always called him kid.
Funny even though it is a fanfiction it does explain some interesting things like where Charlie ran off to and also what was behind the "personal attacks." A little bit of rivalry going on between two men in love with the same woman. That quote about the "famous deserving of being picked on" was that one that Charlie Chaplin actually said, because it sounds familiar.
