I am so pleasantly surprised by this story. It's like an intelligent conversation about BDSM. I don't have any inside knowledge into the culture at all, so I can't speak to it on that level, but I really love reading about how an intelligent woman who thinks of herself as a feminist works through the seeming cognitive dissonance.
I also really loved the art discussion in this chapter. It's interesting how Magritte seems to make Bella so uncomfortable. He's always been one of my favorite artists precisely because I love how disconcerting his work is. I don't really agree with her view of Le Viol either. I always saw it as making a commentary on the way women are depicted in art.
But I digress, what I really wanted to say is that I am so enjoying your story and I hope that one day you might find the time to complete it!

I've been rereading this and am wondering-will you ever finish it? Seems unlikely after all this time but it's such a hot fic-I'd love to learn more about Edward's..proclivities and see where they end up.

The dialogue between these two reminds me of Sheldon and Amy Ferafowler on the Big Bang Theory.

René Magritte shouldn't use comma splices.
Hah! You are right that Washington is no New York. Our museums in DC are free!

I've been trying to figure out what the second part of the quote means: "It is a subtle abyss that separates men's use of women for sexual titillation from women's use of women to expose that insult." What is "women's use of women to expose that insult" referring to?

Did you ever read any of Alice Walker's short story collections. I like You Can't Keep a Good Woman Down.

I find the feminist talk quite interesting actually. I'm not really a fan of Dworkin either. She's a bit much, I think. But I do agree with her on some points. Other than that I'm pretty much a sex-positive feminist.
