Nice chapter :)

I loved this back in the day, but reading it now I have to say same is still great. However there are things that have been done wrong.

1. Naruto dropped his crush too fast. It took alot more in Canon for him to drop his insane crush on Sakura but still liked her. I can understand if Naruto was having an off day due to being tired when he did that stuff, but he should also apoligise to the person when he is in a better mindstate. And I have gotten better opinions on Sakura even as I look back. People should actually look back now. I used to like Sakura, then disliked her after getting swept into the Sakura Bashing, but now I like her after thinking clear. Sakura is just one of those girls, don't hate her. After all, Kushina and Tsunade were exactly like how Sakura was when they were kids, Kushina being worse tho. The only difference was Sakura was a young fan girl with an obsessive crush in mind. The proper motivation and training had helped straiten her out. However she, like Kushina and Tsunade, is still prone to anger outbursts.

2. Hinata growing bolder to talk to Naruto was way too fast as well. She was extremly shy and it took Naruto being defeated and almost dieing for Hinata to gather the courage to confess her love for him or even start to talk normal to him. I really don't think a bit of encoragment would do much, otherwise she would have confessed long ago in Canon.

3. After Naruto finding out about Kurama, Kyuubi and started to cry? There are only a few times in Canon I have seen Naruto cry at (that I remember). The first was after defeating Mizuki with the Mass Shadow Clone Jutsu (with 1000 clones) and Iruka acknowledged that Naruto wasn't Kyuubi and the 2nd was after the Great Naruto Bridge was complete and Naruto told Inari not to cry, but he was crying himself. The others were after meeting his parents and each time, he was crying in happiness. I have never once seen him cry in saddness. He didn't cry when the 3rd died, he didn't cry when he could stop Sasuke or any of those other times he saw Sasuke. Hell, he didn't even cry when he found out that Jiraiya died!

loving the story, however i'm hating how naruto is just being used. bloody stupid. should have had him go rouge instead. better story.

You have been infected with a chronic problem that seams to plague fanfic writers (especially those of Naruto and Harry Potter). This is at least the second time you've used the same (wrong) spelling:

"Sasuke would never go rouge" the silver haired man insisted firmly.

If you check the dictionary you'll find: "Rouge (cosmetics), a cosmetic used to color the cheeks and emphasize the cheekbones." While it actually would not surprise me at all if Sasuke were to start wearing makeup and dressing in women's clothes, I believe you intended to use ROGUE, as in someone who is out of control.

I thought I'd point this out since it seems to be a recurring thing rather than a simple typographical error.

This... Is a different angle on a real world.

If you could just seal people's abilities against their will then Naruto' fox ones would have been sealed. I guess demonic chakra related abilities might be harder to seal so that might not be true, but sealing abilities away sounds like an extremely powerful ability that is either a kinjutsu or OP or both.

I understand how the createive energy involved in running a game can interfere with other endeavors. I'll be ready for an update when you decide to post it.

I was somewhat surprised at Sasuke's apparent sudden death. It seemed...very convenient as a way to wrap up things. I trust that my suspicion will be justified or dismissed in another chapter or two. _ Your version of Sakura has really matured; the canon Sakura at this point in the story would have shattered like a dropped vase. Naruto's survivor guilt and misguided desire to prevent loss by absence was not something to cheer for, but he got through it alright. I think you have given Shino more dialog in this story than he usually gets in about 10 of them.

The other rookie teams & Team Gai made it to the finals, along with the now-redundant Sound team. The absence of the Sabaku Team from Suna kept the fatalities down a lot! _ Naruto wasn't able to reach Gaara this time, so I supposed that will become unfinished business between them.

I wonder if the invasion is still on this time? Orochimaru was cheated of his prey, Gaara won't be there to act as a mega-diversion, and the Hokage is now on guard. Is Orochimaru going to become impatient, or will he toss the plan aside and start again?

Naruto finally learned what he didn't do right, and what he did wrong. Well, nothing to do but call it a learning experience and move on... Fortunately Sandaime likes him; another ninja might not have been punished so lightly. Good tie-in with the Kuma SNAFU that Kishimoto used to explain how things could go south quickly & forever alter things.

Naruto broke into Anko's place drunk, slept there, then walked out the door under his own power. i am impressed! Naturally, Team 7 was not so impressed with his actions from the prior day, and their result. Sometimes "I'm sorry" just doesn't cut it enough... Then Orochimaru showed up, anyway, just to further ruin Naruto's day. Your economic description of the fight with him was good enough, if not great. The Big Snake is such a powerhouse that it's difficult to write the fight to where it would give Team 7 a real chance to drive him away or escape.

Well, Naruto really did it THAT time! Too bad for him, but he proved the old adage about hammers and nails. He has mastered his old school techniques, but he doesn't know how best to apply them, yet. Hopefully he would learn his lesson after taking such huge risks, ne? Boy, now if certain gamers I knew from Back When had understood that lesson from the Hokage...

The exam BTW was an interesting alternative to the now dead-horse canon version. Too bad we'll never know if Team 7 could have passed it. Seeing the other teams being willing to help though showed that Sandaime is right to be encouraged about the Will of Fire. LIked Hinata's ability to be able to persuade her teammates to do what she wants when necessary. Maybe she has the Puppy Dog Eyes jutsu? _

Sasuke's line about not wanting to "help" him deal with his life was probably the most insightful & intelligent thing I've heard him say in a fanfic of any kind. Good job! _

I see that you did not make the real introduction for Konohamaru until this chapter. it didn't seem to really affect things, so why not? Making fun of Sasuke's gender orientation may be sophomoric, but it sure is fun! _ Friend and fan writer hitobashira has always maintained that Sasuke would have been a great tsundere girl. Destroying or otherwise vandalizing all the Icha Icha was great revenge on Kakashi.
