I loved this fanfic my new fave it’s dramatic, funny, heartwarming and just so well written in general Sokka is such a lovely character caring for azula and sticking by her side no matter what it just made me love him even more than I already do, such a sweetheart and Azula I pray she gets better and stays with sokka she’s the best character in my opinion I love her badass personality and sarcasm in this

It's so gratifying to see Sokka is starting to unravel what's going on, the whole sequence of Azula's firebending trance is shiver-inducing. Sokka's struggle to grapple with how he feels about Azula is rather amusing, the more he claims he's not sure about his feelings, the more obvious he makes it that he truly loves her. It's really amusing to think of this from Aang and Toph's points of view, their friend is defending someone who vanished, was last known to have been sent to an asylum, says can't firebend but can and even ATTACKS Sokka in front of them...! And he's adamant that she's NOT conscious of any of what's going on and not responsible for what she's done to him. There's only one explanation they can come up with, Sokka, so just accept the truth already x'D

But frankly, that Azula has someone so firm on her corner is also a completely novel experience for her after everything she's been through. What she endured in canon is bad enough as it is, but she's got the extra baggage of everything she can't even remember with this entire disaster involving the Dai Li. It's enough to make someone shut down (as she tries to) and push everything away in a bid to reclaim some sense of control, and yet Sokka is so supportive, so helpful, and most of all, so pragmatic... I've always thought that his goal-oriented, problem-solving mentality would be one of many things she'd appreciate a lot about him, and the way this conflict is resolved is proof of that. Instead of letting emotion take the wheel, he stands by logic instead and that's very much what Azula needed in that moment.

Oh, I can't wait to see how things will turn out going forward. May Zuko not cause too much trouble... though frankly I have low expectations about that particular sibilng reencounter x'D I can only hope logic will prevail once more, even if it might take them a few shouting matches to get there. The Omashu conflict is pretty unsettling too, though... I wonder if we'll get to see what's going on there eventually. Anyway, thank you once more for the wonderful update! I'll wait patiently for more!

this fic was one of the first i read when i got into sokkla several years ago, and it instantly became a favorite of mine! so when i saw the notification for this story i gasped and squealed lol! i spent all of today rereading the entire fic and it made me remember how much i love it. this chapter definitely confirmed my suspicion that azula was somehow involved in the mysterious light, and it has also raised more questions. i can’t wait for the next update!
