I keep forgeting Shinichi's currently still a child, even after reading so many fanfictions calling him Shinichi in his child form. I'm so used to see "Conan" for when he's shrunken, and Shinichi when he's a teen (or in flash backs, when he was a real kid).
So, in the end, Vermouth still protected him. Had she knows it's end like this, she probably wouldn't have tried to erase his memory. At least she probably won't try it in the actual manga xD
